Trading Update #14
2009-04-28 18:00:30
Well, what a difference a few short days can make!

You folks out there in Tradee-land truly answered the call in my last Trading Update, and as a result, we’ve executed a bunch of new Trades, and brought in some excellent new books! I can feel our momentum beginning to pick up again!

So let’s go to the highlights: Marvel’s Mark Beazley swapped me a compete run of X-FORCE #116-129, X-STATIX #1-26 and DEADGIRL #1-5 for the CONAN #20 and TARZAN #1. I traded AVENGERS/JLA #2 and DAREDEVIL #183 for STRANGE TALES #150 and #155. I got a huge stack of UNCANNY X-MEN issues: #186, 187, 210, 212, 223, 226, 228, 230, 233, 234 & X-FACTOR #12 in exchange for UNCANNY X-MEN #126 & #143. The compete Jim Starlin Warlock series in STRANGE TALES #178-181 & WARLOCK #9-15 brought in the five-part Origin of Galactus series from THOR #160, #161, #162, #168 & #169.

I did a massive trade with a single exuberant Tradee, swapping AVENGERS #14, #17, #18, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #239, DAREDEVIL #14, #17 for UNCANNY X-MEN #115, #117, #118, #121, #124, #125, #130, #131, #134, #134, #135, #138, #140 and #143. Another large scale trade exchanged FANTASTIC FOUR #239, #242, #316, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #258, #275, #299, #325, PUNISHER WAR JOURNAL #1, DOOM 2099 #2, SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN ANNUAL #13 for ALIAS #1, #10, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN v2 #36, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN CHAOS IN CALGARY, DAREDEVIL YELLOW #1, MK SPIDER-MAN #21, SPIDER-MAN 2099 #1, the ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN Hardcover Vol. 1 and NOVA v4 #1.

And in another bargain designed to free up some space, I traded AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #289, CAPTAIN AMERICA #333, FANTASTIC FOUR 2099 #3, FANTASTIC FOUR ANNUAL #23, PATSY WALKER #97, PUNISHER #11 (MK), PUNISHER WAR JOURNAL #6, QUASAR #2, SGT FURY #43, SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #250, ULTIMATE X-MEN #1/2, X-MEN #25 (hologram) for WAR COMICS #12 and #44 from the 1950s! I gave up the NEW MUTANTS GRAPHIC NOVEL for TALES TO ASTONISH #77, the SHE-HULK GRAPHIC NOVEL for AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #150, and THOR #142 for FANTASTIC FOUR #64

Most impressive of all, I swapped the DARK TOWER: THE GUNSLINGER BORN #1 signed by Stephen King for a copy of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #5. #5! How cool is that?

I didn’t think that anything was going to top that trade this past week—but I was wrong! I’ve got one more exchange pending that’s even more spectacular than that, but until I get the book in my hands, I don’t yet want to tell you about it. So hopefully, there’ll be an update in this regard before the end of the week.

So just to tally up where we now stand, here’s what’s in the Trading Stack right this moment, and available for Trade:

So if you’d like to propose a Trade, just drop me a line at tbrevoort@marvel.com and let me know what you’d like to offer for what. And remember, when all is said and done, the FF #1 and any and all other books still I the stack when the event finishes will be donated to the Hero Initiative to be auctioned off on behalf of their fine charity. So it’s all in a good cause!

I can feel us getting closer. Surely, somebody out there has an FF #1 to trade—and the book I’ll be showing you in the next few days may be what flushes it out!

Keep on Trading!

Tom B
Its over.
This trade business is really tired. Could we but it to rest? I could be alone, but it seems as if these are the posts that receive the least amount of feedback. I know we're supposed to be constructive but there's nothing I can see that would make this interesting for me.

Honestly, I like to hear how the economy is affecting the industry. I'd like to get more insight as to the business of comic books alongside debates over creativity.

That's just my two pictures of Abe Lincoln.

Post Script

Bring back MJ.

I disagree
I think this trading business is amazing. I always look forward to the news of recent trades. It's a very unique program, with a worthwhile goal of donating to charity. Just the chance at participating in this is exciting.

You are alone
I'm with soonerjudd. The whole trading comics project is FANTASTIC! Maybe it was before great unraveling's time, but trading comics was an integral part of comic collecting back in the day, and it's alot more fun than some of the screaming I see going on in "creative debates" over Spiderman. Watching and participating in this venture has been a swell experience all around for me. And to top it off, the proceeds are going to charity. Totally a WIN!

And the LAST thing I want to see here is talk of the economy. Turn on the news, if that's what you want to depress yourself with.
