Hi and welcome to Marvel.com Blogs! I'm Peter Olson, the senior architect for Marvel.com, and we here on the Marvel.com team are beyond excited about this new feature for our beloved site. Our goal with these is blogs help you get a better, more personal look behind the scenes here at Marvel then you can get, well, anywhere else.

Now that we have those formalities out of the way, what is this blog in particular going to be about? Well, yes, part of this is going to be pointing out lots of the cool stuff going on here on Marvel.com and our other web sites (such as the Blade: The Series sweepstakes we are doing in conjunction with Spike TV), but I don't think most people will want to come back to something that's just a series of plugs for something else (except maybe the Leno show).

So what I want to do is make this blog as interactive as possible. An open-source blog, for the buzzword-happy among you. So, it's up to you guys: What do you want this blog to be about? Discussions about how superhero culture and character-based entertainment work on the internet? Interviews with other people at Marvel? An exhaustive list of bugs on Marvel.com? [editors note: there are no bugs on Marvel.com] Long-winded, uninformed pontifications about technology? You tell me. Use the response forms down below, and I'll do my very best to shape it the way you want.

So, until the next entry, whenever that may be,
[insert clever sign-off here]

I'd like to see interviews from the artists, writers, and everyone else that helps with making the comics. Also...is there any news on when the forums are going to be up and running?

variant cover prices (outrageous)
why are the cover prices so expensive at the comic bookstores. why can they not be offered for the same listing price as seen on your website. I enjoy reading the spiderman stories and especially in this time of war. The variant covers are amazing but I just hate paying such a great price for them. Can you help me find them for the asking price.

I want interviews!
Not with writers, artists or editors...bah! they need to stay behind their desks and keep cranking out the high quality stuff. No, I want interviews with the CHARACTERS. Think back to when the characters used to answer the mail in the 'X-Mail' letter column. I want Franklin Richards to talk about his fav-o-rite heroes! I what makes She-Hulk laugh? Why did Beak cross the road?

I want hard-hitting-tough-love journalism here! Get those characters talkin!

Creative Team News
My favorite title right now is UFF, and I know Millar's (and I think Land's too) run is about over. Updates when new creative teams have been assigned to issues, especially when it's known far ahead of time, would be great. To that point, who's the new team going to be on UFF after the next two issues?

Ultimate Marvel
What's up everyone. I have a question to ask everybody. Since Marvel Comics is making these Ulimate Mavel books like Ulimate X-Men and Ulimate Spider-Man, which Marvel comic book or characters should be made into a Ultimate Marvel comic book and why. Thanks for your time everyone.

New Ultimate Title
I think there should be a Ultimate Hulk ongoing after the ultimate wolverine and hulk miniseries. It would be awesome for them to explore the Hulk's and Banner's past and origin. Then later the Leader could show up or something.

Wondering...
Are regular members able to make thier own blogs?

And I would want this blog to be about people's opinions on Marvel comics and how they should be changed or explored. And of course those pesky spoilers.

Does any one have any suggestions for a new reader i just started last week ??

Millars Ultimate F4
Millar's run on Ultimate F4 is great. They are all three story arcs, short and sweet. His run starts with issue 21. His first two arcs are great but his President Thor story was a little off. His new story "Frightful" has just been released and it holds alot of promise.

Posted by 1webfan on 2006-06-13 16:23:48
seriously
Littleredhat has a good question, when will the message board be up and running??

what do u think .....
what do u think about civil war and phoenix endsong to start ??

Posted by Bettastyle on 2006-06-13 17:51:00
Civil War
Civil War#1 was a definate A+. It was easy for a new comer to jump right into the excitement. I highly reccomend it to anyone who hasn't picked it up. Civil War#2 comes out tomorrrow (Wednesday) so you can read both at the same time. Most of Civil War tie ins are good such as the Fantastic Four's. Spider Man's "Road to Civil War" was not as great as its "Civil War tie-in. Don't bother picking up Civil War Front Line #1. As for Phoenix: Endsong, I never read it.

Question to Marvel
How come you guys have advertisements for The Flash and Justice Leage and Batman Beyond and Clark and Lois Dvd sets while you guys can advertise your own merchandice like the Xmen Evolution Season 3 Boxset or the entire '90's Fantastic 4 Boxset or any other upcoming dvds or boxsets??

Posted by 1webfan on 2006-06-13 20:08:07
another Idea
It would be really great if the Marvel website had a weekly video diary of most of Marvels significant writers such as Stan Lee, Bendis, Mark Millar, Or Brubaker? I hope you guys consider this.

Them old Marvel trailers
Heya Peter, great work on Marvel.com. Not sure what I'd want the blog to be about, but I do have a couple of questions;

1) Are those old Marvel trailers still around (the Paradise X one, the Elektra one, etc.)? The trailers for the new stuff are nice too, but I really liked those old ones

2) Someone asked before how the new Marvel Message Boards are coming along. Are they still be worked on, or will these blogs replace them?

Blaarrgh!
Thanks for asking. I'd like to see a FAQ area (specifically to do with this blogging business, which I am new to). I signed in, posted a comment on one of Brevoort's blogs ("EditTutorial" and "EditTutorialRedux.") and as soon as I clicked on "go" I was automatically signed out. Is it because I, maskedmenace, refuse to knuckle under to the Registration Act and reveal my true identity? Has the Civil War crossed over into the "real" world of the Marvel Bullpen? Oh, and why stop at character interviews? Let's hear from the anonymous bystanders that are often so much collateral damage when the heroes & villains duke it out. Wait: Maybe that's why we need The Pulse. (still) -maskedmenace

Prose & ConSequential
Is it possible to list the blog responses & comments sequentially? The backwards way it's formatted seems less of a conversation and exchange of ideas, and more of a free-for-all.

Hulk Question
Since the Incredible Hulk was just recently dumped to another planet by his "friends", how come She Hulk hasn't raised an eye brow on the sudden dissapearence of her jolly, green cousin of hers?

Line breaks in posts
Can you add some functionality to the blog response posting so we can add some paragraph breaks and make the posts a bit more readable? I fear that Tom Brevoort is going to get eyestrain reading my multi-paragraph responses to his posts without them. Would HTML codes work?

Message Boards
Is there going to be a goal in mind -- a purpose, perhaps -- in designing the message boards? I post frequently on another publisher's message boards, but they distance themselves from the boards by apparently "not reading" them. Would Marvel make an effort to interact on the boards?

In regards to the blogs, I do like them a lot. It gives me what I was yearning for at Marvel.com -- more interaction! I think it would be nice to have "new creative teams" for any given book to blog about their goals and agendas for their future run.

Giving new Ideas
A blog where fans can put out information on there ideas for new comics or video games. I like how the blog's are turning out, and can fans create there own blogs.
And also Can marvel possible release DVD's of the whole X-men cartoons and Spider-man cartoons that would be great thanks. I really enjoyed those cartoons and watched them religiously. Thanks.

The Threaded Web. 'nuff said.
It was the one thing I loved about AOL back in the 90s, seriously. I used to throw in an entry every week until I figured out they would only accept one per storyline...so I would create aliases, just to see if mine would get picked. Fun times for a comic geek :p

One last question:
What's the scoop with "Hero Points"???

Posted by murdocksgirl on 2006-06-20 16:13:26
Animation
OK,now seriously,Marvel website should definitely have an animation section featuring the hits such as X-M:E,Spider-man etc.and post news on the upcoming,I know there are fansites for these shows, but there should be atleast one official one too

X Men Cartoon DVD's- Where are they???
I am curious as to when Marvel is going to realize the RIDICULOUS amount of money they could make if they released the X Men cartoon series on DVD. Pirated/taped copies from TV on selling on ebay for a lot of money- and the quality is moderate to poor, but people are willing to buy them. I would have thought that with the "final" installment of the X Men movies, that they would have made this series avaliable. Thoughts?????

Please tell me... thatīs not true
CIVIL WAR..... I love it!!!!!!, Mark Millar itīs an excellent writer, but.... well I donīt now itīs something that I read a few hours ago... so I looked for the Marvel Forum, email or something to post in. No forum, no email... instead there were blogs.

Itīs true that Iron Man and Reed Richards would be Skrulls???, The New Warriors who died in the first AWESOME issue of Marvel Civil War are actually Skrull impersonators????? And that Tony Stark has engineered the entire Civil War in order to get the all the Skrulls currently impersonating superheroes?????? Please, please donīt do that, it will kill the whole event!!!!!!! would be a shame that all the CIVIL WAR plot is actually a Skrull plan?!!!!!

I love the political allegory in the book that makes comics grow up, character and scripts evolve in something more... Those books shows how forced registration of persons would spark a civil liberties controversy, and thatīs a great theme for a script!!!! some people (and not only comic book fans) see this as a reflection of the real world and thatīs the main difference with others superheroesīs comic books..... so that you tell me that all this CONFLICT itīs a Skrull plot???

Really..... I hope be wrong and please donīt do it.
Take it easy guys...
