Spider-Man 3, Wave Crasher
2007-05-09 10:35:18

The big news this weekend: Spider-Man 3 topped the box office, raking in $148 million!

Hitting that high mark means the ol' Web-Head reigns supreme over Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (and Aquaman), reclaiming the spot for best opening weekend.

Love it or hate it, Spidey's No. 1!
spider-man box office hit
spider-man 3 deserves to be number one. It's a rockin' movie.

Spider-man 3
Bad acting, no character development for anyone, jazz dance number, Parker had emo hair and eyeliner on.....I want my money back and a bottle of irish wiskey for my problems.

great movie
It was a good movie but i don't think spiderman wore his venom suit enough, also the ending was just crap because there is no setup for the next movie, but it was a great movie

It blew me away.
I am not surprised at all the spiderman 3 was the #1 opening weekend of all time. I saw the movie on opening day and I must say that it was the single greatest movie experience of my life. I have never seen a more well played action pact movie. My only hope is that the phenomenon doesn't stop here.

It was depressing...
I';m a fan of Amazing Spider-man from the Bronze era.... Venom WAS THE KING THEN. He wasn't a wimpy emo kid, he wasn't a cheesy weakling who would want/ need help from the Sandman... And except for the fact he hated Spidey he wasnt even a bad guy (he's the LETHAL PROTECTOR). AND NO WAY Spidey can take CARNAGE on his own, not even the lizard could save him... Venom got no respect, shoot he got thirty minutes of the movie! Whys stan lee letting this happen to his masterpieces (Xmen 1-3, Spiderman 3).

Posted by Amazing_Venom on 2007-05-11 01:12:39
best movie so far
the movie was really good, venom was great, but he part was to short. Hope next movie we see more villians together

Better than 2 but you can't beat spiderman 1.
I have been in love with the spiderman comics practicaly all my life. So when I heard of the spiderman movie in 2002 I about fanted. Then 2 came out, and it was decient, but it still did't own up to #1. Then 3 came and it bew me away. It was way better than 2, but it was a hare away from beating 1. I know it broke all these records, but in the end it all has to do with the storyline.

Posted by venoms_mineon_1 on 2007-05-11 13:45:06
what are you guys thinking
The movie was the worst of the 3. Evil Parker was just not believable and the cheesiest ive ever seen. The end sucked and not enough Spidey swinging around saving the day.

On Setting Records
Spider-Man 3 (having topped out over that weekend at an actual $151M domestic/$380M worldwide) set some major records, BUT wouldn't it be awesome if they were on the books for a matter of weeks?

While the Shrek movies have some serious box office clout (look at the overall gross of Shrek 2, #3 domestic box office all time), they make most of their money in repeat viewership/later weekends, and don't rely on ridiculous opening weekends. The $16M increase in opening weekend sales from Pirates 2 to Spider-Man 3 makes it difficult for Shrek to keep up on its opening weekend, though I wouldn't rule it out.

More likely, however, is that Pirates 3 will reclaim the opening weekend mantle for its franchise, allowing Spider-Man 3 to hold the top spot a scant three weeks. I'll tell you one thing: it's a great time to be fans of intelligent, epic blockbuster spectacles, since Hollywood tends to make more of what makes money.

And Spider-Man 3 made a heck of a lot of money.

venom
biggest upset was that venom's voice didnt change. it would have been cooler if he had a more darker voice or somthin.

Posted by Avenger America9 on 2007-05-12 02:49:18
it should have been not realeased
the movie has to be one of the worst marvel movies in some time. i think the only one that could compare would be the Capt.America movie from the late 80's. we left half way thru, to get a refund and went to see Hot Fuzz.....MUCH BETTER !!!!!!

Posted by radram on 2007-05-12 07:24:34
venom
I think it should be an part 4 but they need to put venom back beacause in spiderman 3 he had like ten minutes and when he was in the movie it was at the end

spiderman 3
the action was awesome the effect were great. but as a true spidey fan, i think the story was lacking.. Venom was only in the movie for all of fifteen minutes. He should've been introduced in this movie but saven for the next movie. and what was up with that dance skit? that shouldve been left for the dvd extras

Spiderman 3
Sure,it was a great movie, but i don't think it had enough action,I mean, they didnt even stick to the comic strip, the black spiderman costume wasnt even like the comic book, that was pretty lame if you think about it

Posted by Marvelfan_123 on 2007-05-13 15:21:21
it was the worst so far
well all acting aside the action was good graphics's were minimal good though i didn't like the hair and Peter's new age being a $%&*$@#%% look either !

Posted by kevbokirwan on 2007-05-13 19:00:51
I wanted to love it but..
Im a huge spidey fan, but comon, venom was sooo weak, the acting was bad Kristan Dunst acted like she wanted off the movie!, the writing was even worse like when cap. stacy sees his daughter hanging on for life and all he says is "whats she doing up there?"", dark spidey was a total retard, it was a night at the roxberry meets saturday night fever, I am so dissapointed, true it had its moments like great fights and special effects, but very few, they just had too many characters, and the storylines for each of them were so rushed, I mean give the characters the respect they deserve!!, and since when does venom ask for help to beat spidey! NEVER!! It wasnt the worst movie Ive ever seen, but I was expecting so so so much more, tI mean its SPIDERMAN 3!! they truly messed up the trilogy!!! why sam remy, why!!????

Posted by Juanca_o10 on 2007-05-14 02:25:25
The worst one and the best one
I thought it was a great movie in many ways but I also think it was the worst one. The action great, the effects great, and the story great. Then we have Parker with emo hair and eye liner, very cheesey danceing, one tear going down every ones face at the end, Harry dieing and Venom wasn't Venom. Venom has a long tounge and a deep groggy and he fights alone. He's also not a bad guy he just hates spider-man. But still over all it was the best of the three.

Posted by Marvel-Man88 on 2007-05-14 22:44:54
Where has all the venom gone
I love spiderman. I have for almost 27 years and the reason why it hasn't been longer was simply that I was to young to hold the comic. I am so upset at this movie. Where is Vemom? What I saw on that big screen was defently not him. This was just a skinny whinny little man with bad teeth. Venom is my favorite charactor of all time, so I choise to say that this was not Venom, just a very upsetting wana-be. Sorry Stan Lee, you are still the best there ever was, and will be.

Posted by durdenmonkey on 2007-05-14 22:45:41
Do you people know what your doing?!
You guys have been bustin spiderman 3 since it came out, just because of spidermans new suit, which kind of reminds me of the red cryptonite and superman, and hisnew attitude. So do you guys fail to remember that if Sam Raimi reads these and sees that you have basically made fun of his work he might nnot come back. And you know what happens then don't you? The whole cast will fall apart ! If you have any response send um to me.

Spider-Man 3 a big let down
Is the movie titled Peter Parker or Spider-Man? Not enough web slinging, not enough GOOD story, not enough Spidey. Too much was attempted leaving far too much unexplored. And what about that ending? It was dreadful. And for that matter, where was the final swing? I tell ya, this movie did not live up the hype. Sure, some of the effects were good but nothing spectacular. It seems everyone got lazy on this pic and it shows!

Posted by the darkone on 2007-05-15 14:29:08
Eh, it could've been better ya know?
Here's my overall opinion, Spider-Man 3 wasn't half bad, it was decent, but it could've been better. The symbiote didn't have enough time and it didn't follow the original style. Venom hardly had anytime and wasn't done any justice. I think that in part 4, he should be brought back and done some serious justice. Marvel, I'm willing to write you a Spider-Man 4 script. Just email me and I'll do it. I'll do it for free just to see Venom done better

God I really despise movie critics and fans.
Ok im sure many have said this over and over, but it has to be said over and over because hey its true. Spider-man 3 was the best of the whole trilogy. Why? Because it was A: funny B: didnt waste time with retarded things like Carnage (yes i said it) C: Was completely and utterly the best comic book adaption ever made. Fan boys give it up, seriously. The more you bitch, the more you whine "not enough Venom" or "acting was horrible" and how about "emo parker was sad". Critics, you guys are in control of wether there is another spidey movie. Youll be lucky if there isnt angry mobs of spidey fans comin after you guys because you binned this movie so bad that the actors and the director (who is one talented dude) will never come back. In turn there WILL be a JOEL SHUMACHER SPIDEY. may not be joel himself but the franchise will crash. Venom, big fan of the character BUT, he is mostly a brawler character, nothin more. Sam Raimi did his absolute best to bring the character to life. He did so successfully, and he showed what Venom really is, a villian, nothin more once again. But ya know what, me sayin this wont do jack. So im basically wastin electricity arguing my case. The movie was great, no it was Amazing.

Spider-Man 3
I thought it was awesome and maybe even better than the first one. However i was dissapointed by a few things. First of all, there was a little too much going on. The plot at times seemed rushed. The story of each character could of been expanded on a great deal. I think they tried to fit too much into this one and could have turned the story of this one into a trilogy all its own. Also Venom's voice wasn't nearly changed enough. he should have a deep warped voice. his head looked a little funny too. He needed a more elongated jaw. I wish they ended it with a teaserthat could lead into the 4th one. Although they could always bring Carnage into the 4th cause Dr. Curt Connors has a sample of the symbiote. It was also kinda lame the way the symbiote came to earth. It should of been on a spaceship or something. This movie had a lot of great things too. The special effects were perfect, awesome fight scenes, and I liked they way Peter was portrayed when he wore the symbiote. Oh yeah, I wish the symbiote was always on him and could come over him whenever he wanted to become spider-man. Instead it was like a material suit that he took on and off. Whats up with that, The symbiote's power wasn't really shown. I mean wth the symbiote Spider-mans strength is doubled, he can turn it into any outfit he can think of, and even camoflauge(the most underused power of the symbiote). None of these things were really portrayed by the symbiote. To end on a good not, the scene when Peter first got the symbiote on and then ended up,outside without knowing how, perfect. It blew my mind. The bell tower scene was equally cool. All in all, an awesome movie and I was still greatly impressed. The greatest superhero movie ever. Stan Lee, I thank you for bringing Spider'Man into this world.

Spider man 4
I think there will be a spider man 4 and will be produced in 2009. The villain may be the lizard

Posted by Spiderjason on 2007-05-17 04:49:43
Spiderman 4 villians
I think spiderman 4 should have falcon and it would be the osbournes butler. And the Jacal because parkers teacher still has some venom.

I don't think venom was in #3 enough.I hope they bring him back for #4.I think for #4 It will be Dr.Conners turning into the lizard. And I think Kraven (Kavinoff) would be a good addition to it as well. Or perhaps the Rhino. Who knows? Can't wait to see!!
