So yesterday I posted the first "I"m a Marvel, I'm a DC" video by Michael Agrusso, a.k.a. ItsJustSomeRandomGuy. So funny, so true. Here's the second, with some thoughts from the good Mr. Agrusso.
Agent M: What's the deal with this video? Michael Agrusso: Spider-Man (Marvel) and Superman (DC) in another variation on the Mac/PC ads. This time, Superman takes a fond look back at his original movies.
Agent M: Who's your favorite superhero movie director? Aside from special effects, do think their movies would have been much different 20-30 years ago?
Michael Agrusso: Well, I really don't like to pick favorites...I think Bryan Singer did an excellent job with the X-Men films he directed. I absolutely love what Sam Raimi did with Spider-Man 2. But, you know...Richard Donner really played the biggest part in showing that superhero movies could be taken seriously.
Both Singer and Raimi have admitted that Donner's "Superman" was a big influence on their films. I guess if I had to pick a favorite, I'd have to go with the guy who helped today's big guns by paving the way. If superhero
movies had their boom 20-30 years ago, they'd still be fantastic if they were in the hands of people as faithful as he was.
I still dream about the awesomeness that could have been a 1974 MODOK movie starring Marlon Brando. It could have easily stood the test of time had it been made. Ah well. Watch the video and come back tomorrow for another.
