'Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2': What the Real Fans Are Saying
2009-08-28 15:49:44

You know what's cool? When you know for a fact that the real fans out there -- the people like you and me who live and breathe the Marvel Universe -- are going to like the games you're working on. You put a ton of work into something, then you show it to your peers...and you can see in their eyes how much they're into it. Now, "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2" isn't quite out yet (September 15!), but the folks we've been showing it to -- people like you who really want to play it -- are digging it big time.

For example, take the latest issue of WIZARD (issue 216, October 2009), where they know a thing or two about super heroes. One of the magazine's three covers devotes itself to the game (something they don't do often), and the article within is filled with praise. "MUA2 keeps the best parts of the original's gameplay, and tweaks the elements that needed an upgrade," says WIZARD's Stephen Wettstein. "The game is kick-ass when played solo, but really shines when played with your friends."

And speaking of people who know a thing or two about comic books, the Marvel Studios office (the one out here in California) had a visit from Brian Michael Bendis the other day. We had a chance to show him "MUA2" -- and he loved it! Once our intern Randy and I showed Brian how to throw Captain America's mighty shield, all those who chose to oppose his shield yielded (yes...that was a '60s cartoon reference), and he had a smile on his face the whole time.

I was particularly pleased to see Brian get so into the SECRET WAR section that kicks off the game...'cause, like, he wrote it and all. He understood and appeared to even embrace small changes to better serve the game, like Iron Man being in on Nick Fury's attack on Doomstadt. He left enthusiastically telling us, "You've got a real winner on your hands here!"

Bendis plays MUA2

Then, a few hours later, he tweeted, "Happy to give a huge thumbs up for 'Ultimate Alliance 2.' The stills do it no justice. It's gorgeous. Fusion is fun as ****. Cap, I predict, will be the most popular character in the game. Shield throwing is the ****!! The Deadpool dialogue was great."

But you know what? The feedback that means the most to us is the feedback that comes from someone else -- and that's you! The game was playable at Comic-Con last month, and no one's said a negative thing yet -- quite the opposite, actually.

It's "everything I ever wanted in a super hero game," Marvel fan Matt Morrow tells us. "And Deadpool."

His feelings are echoed by Ryan Collins, who runs a comic shop in Simi Valley, CA. "I was blown away by 'MUA2' at the con," he says. "Every aspect of it exceeded my expectations down to the little details in the environment."

It feels really good to hear feedback like that. And we hope to hear a lot more like that from you in just a little over two weeks...

Excelsioryuken!

this game
i think that it would be a whole lot better
if this game would have a one person story line
also a exhibition game play plus the chance to create
your one super hero from scratch.

can't wait!
I want this game to come out already! But I can't believe that there is exclusive charecters for each side?! I just don't think it's fair to be able to play as a Pro-Reg charecter but not be able to use them if you pick Anti-Reg.

Well, blueban123...
...you'll just have to play it twice, then, won't you? :-)

(Actually, after you've beaten it, you can play through the whole game with any characters you want.)

Angry about Ultimate Alliance 2 especially th
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 for Nintendo wii was terrible. Angry is all that can be said. I have loved Marvel for 30yrs. For 5yrs I liked Activision alot. This was insulting to Marvel fans, at least to me and many others apparently. The first one for PS2 was great really impressive. Don't get me wrong. I'm sure they meant well but Captain America looked bad as did the graphics on most. Plus as for as i can tell you can't change how they look on the wii version. Forgive me meaning no insult to any one but as a fan of Marvel somebody at Activision dropped the ball. Gambit and the Goblin were fun. I just wouldn't have put Captain America in something that resembled a Christmas tree rug that much. Please get some Marvel fans in on the next one. The first one had great looking characters.

i haven't played that game yet, so i can't really say anything about it. but having played the first marvel ultimate alliance I expect it to be better. not that the first one wasn't good. I liked it, anyway.

I love this game. I thought it didn't come out for my system and when I saw it did, I ran out and bought it. Totally worth my money!

Emma Frost For DLC
So the first wave of DLC has hit the public and seems to have been well received. So now we're trying to get another pack with 5 more of our favourites to mash things up with.

I've been supporting Emma Frost as a playable character since the official webiste was set up and it got quite heated with the Jean and Emma fans at logger heads over which deserved their place more. Obviously you know the outcome of that little battle :) However that hasn't stopped me wanting the former villian in as a playable character, ignoring her previous incarnation in XML. From a gaming point of view her powerset is diverse and the developers have even stated that she is possible to make.

So here comes the evidence.....

Both of the following show strong support for this character as DLC:

http://www.herohq.com/forums/viewthread/150/P12825/

Please be aware that the poll was reset in September to relate to DLC.

http://answers.polldaddy.com/poll/2186300/

Set up a couple of weeks ago.

I wasn't really sure where to post this as i didn't want to set up useless threads to give evidence.

Marvel if you're watching, please take note :)

Emma Frost for DLC
Totally agree with Danny_Darko.
Emma has been one of the most requested characters since the game was announced. She has an extensive, loyal (and continuously in growth) fan base. She also has cool powers that can make her a versatile character, while her telpathic powers can be used in ranged attacks for crowd control, her diamond form makes her an effective tank for close combat.
She also has one of the most interesting stories in Marvel Universe, interacting with the most popular xmen in their most famous sagas, and prominent characters like Tony Stark, Namor or recently the entire Cabal.
She's the leader of the x men and one of the most important characters in the xmen at today.
Please bring her as DLC along other high requested characters like Cyclops, Hawkeye or Rogue.
Are you asking what does real fans want? Follow the links that Danny has posted before me, and you will find the answer :)

Emma Frost for DLC
I totally agree with Danny_Darko and All4Emma. I would also like to request Emma Frost for MUA2 next DLC pack. She's a great character and I believe she would look amazing in this game (especially in her diamond form), she's a major figure in the X-Men books these days, I was shocked when she didn't make the initial roster or first pack of DLC, I believe Emma should get the chance to shine like the Diamond she is, so why not let her shine in MUA2
