JORDAN EXPLAINS COMIC BOOKS TO KATIE POWER

COMICS.
They used to be about a lot of different things (war, romance, crime, ducks). Now the only ones that sell in bulk have whiny guys in tights whining about their whininess.
PONIES.
They’re cute and fun and I can ride on them and one of them gave me powers and I love them!!!!!!
ONE man (Jordan) tries to get a little girl (Katie Power of the POWER PACK) to read a comic instead of thinking about ponies.
LET IT BEGIN!!!!!!!!!!!
KATIE: Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Jordan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JORDAN: Uhn… my head hurts…
KATIE: Yeah, that’s prob’ly cuz I shot you with a…I mean, somebody shot you with a energy blast yesterday. I’m not gonna sleep ‘til I find out who did that!
JORDAN: I… hope you catch them. So what can I do for you?
KATIE: Nate said I need ta learn about comics if I’m gonna take over his blog, and he said HE didn’t wanna teach me cuz he dun’t like comics, and then he said I should ask you, and then he called you a word that my mommy said I should never use.
So can I ask you some comic things?
JORDAN: … ok. What do you need to know?
KATIE: What’s a comic?
JORDAN: What’s a- ?! You’ve never even heard of a comic?
KATIE: Yeah, but I never read one. My brother Jack reads ‘em, but he’s really dumb and mean, so I try not to do anything he does so I won’t be like him.
JORDAN: Well, comics aren’t just for dumb and mean people. They make comics for all kinds of people. Comics are like regular books, except instead of lots of words, we have a series of pictures of people doing things telling the story, and the words say what the people in the pictures are saying.
KATIE: Well, why come are most of ‘em about whiny guys wearin’ masks an’ stuff?
JORDAN: Ah, so you read Nate’s header. How to explain this… Well, most comics are about Super Heroes. You know what super heroes are, right?
KATIE: Like Wonder Woman?
JORDAN: Yeah, sure, she's one. Super Heroes are people with super-powers (like you), who use those powers for good (I hope, like you, too). The thing is, it's not easy doing the right thing. A lot of times it seems easier to use your power for your own benefit, like by stealing things, or zapping people so you can take their place on a blog. So, the ones who try to do good all the time have it rough, and yeah, sometimes they whine about it.
KATIE: Wonder Woman’s pretty.
JORDAN: That’s… true… and she always tries to do what’s right, which is a struggle. Like… you’ve got super powers, right? That means you have to make the choice to either A) use your powers to help people and stop crime, or B) steal all the ponies in the world for yourself. Now, I’m sure you WANT to steal all the ponies in the world for yourself, but you KNOW it would be wrong and make other people sad, so you don’t.
KATIE: BZZZZZZZZZZZZZAP!!!!!!!!!
JORDAN: AAAIIOOOWW!
KATIE: Naaaaaaate!!!
NATE: Sighhh. Yes?
KATIE: I zapped Jordan again.
NATE: Why?
KATIE: He took ponies names in vain.
NATE: Seems fair.
Did you learn about comics?
KATIE: Yeah. They seem ok, even though all they do is fight an’ stuff. Does Marvel do any comics where they don’t fight and stuff?
NATE: Not really. But I’m workin’ on that.
Super heroes aren’t ALL bad, y’know.
KATIE: Yeah. Wonder Woman’s a super hero.
NATE: You uh…might wanna stop saying Wonder Woman.
KATIE: Why come?
NATE: Marvel doesn’t make her comics.
KATIE: I can’t get sued. I’m eight.
NATE: Oh. Well, go ahead then.
