Personnel Update
2009-07-15 18:02:58

Since I like to keep you all apprised of the coming and goings in my office, I felt it was time to hip you all to a change in the status quo.

After a little bit over a year as my Associate Editor, Jeanine Schaefer has been promoted to full Editor status, and will be leaving my group to work under Axel Alonso in the X-Office.

It's always a sad day when one of my guys leaves the nest (and nobody is sadder than Steve Wacker, for whom Jeanine was an appreciative audience-of-one for all of his strange references, bizarre stories and 80s pop song lyrics.) But there's good news as well.

Lauren Sankovitch, previously of the Ultimates office, has been promoted to Associate Editor and will be joining my office (Or, as we like to think of it, "the REAL Marvel Universe") Sadly, this means no more wrestling with Jeph Loeb's slippery grasp on the schedule for the moment, but she'll still be called upon to grapple with Brian Bendis' unique approach to spelling and syntax--just in all caps from now on.

So change your bookmarks, update your call sheets and rotate your dart boards! It's the same thing, only different--and once again, we're on the move!

More later.

Good luck to both ladies with their new roles and responsibilities!

Women in Comics
With the general predominance of Y chromosomes in the comic book industry, Tom, you seem to work with more women than many (most?) other editors. I'm just curious if that just happens to be luck of the draw, or do you more actively promote greater diversity in the workplace?
