Congratulations, all four of you! I'm kicking myself for not seeing this in time.

Exiles
Reading the last editorial simulation crawled me to the wreckage ( ),
the Exiles plot is just great, I really wonder how to start a book like that, leaving the team we know making their way trough universes, and start something really different, with this new concept and get the connection later...
gosh, I'd like to know what artists like Chris Bachalo think about the plot, some indirect way to made what he couldn't at the time on Generation X...
The way you don't care still fascinating me...

I really appreciate being chosen and I'm looking forward to the experience.

thanks Tom,I can't wait to begin.

I, too, will take this opportunity to express both gratitude and excitement.
So Michael and Sean, did you guys also rush to create new Marvel.com accounts under your actual names so there'd be no confusion about your identities? Cause if we all instinctively did that as our first order of business, I suspect that we'll work pretty well together. And also that we're all pretty dorky.
Posted by Philip Schaeffer on 2007-05-13 17:58:32
No, I've been Michael Heide at most of the boards I frequent since 2000 or so. It's always confusing when your favourite username is already taken and someone else posts under "your" name.
Since there aren't that many Michael Heides interested in the US comics scene, posting under my real name avoids that problem.
Posted by Michael Heide on 2007-05-13 19:38:47
That makes plenty of sense, man, especially since all four of the other Michael Heides I know only care about comics from Micronesia or Papua New Guinea.
Posted by Philip Schaeffer on 2007-05-13 20:39:08
Maybe I should have mentioned that I'm from (and still living in) Germany.
Posted by Michael Heide on 2007-05-13 20:46:06
Ach, so? Wo wohnen Sie, denn? Ich habe doch viele Verwandte in Fürth und auch überall in Bayern und Österreich.
Posted by Philip Schaeffer on 2007-05-13 21:02:00
Fürth? I live in Cologne/Köln, in North-Rhine Westfalia. I guess it IS a small world after all...
Posted by Michael Heide on 2007-05-13 21:40:59
Okay, I think this is getting a bit off-topic. I suggest we exchange email-adresses, ICQ numbers and the like. But since I don't want to post that kind of information publicly on the internet, maybe we should ask Mr. Brevoort to send us each other's email adresses? That way, we won't clutter up his blog with our smalltalk, and we can better coordinate our steps in the Editorial Simulation.
By the way, is Patrick on board now?
Posted by Michael Heide on 2007-05-13 21:55:54
I agree completely that we should exchange information between the four of us, so we can work together off boards on any crossover ideas, overall strategy etc. After all, the real editors of Marvel don't suffer the sting of public scrutiny upon every thought or suggestion that passes through their heads, so why should we?
But I hate to burden Mr. B with playing coordinator anymore than he is. Here's my non-personal email address: theknave@knaveofkrypton.com. Michael, Sean and Patrick, you can email me there if you like and I'll distribute your addresses to one another, and that way we can communicate without anybody having to post sensitive material and without bothering any Executive Editors of major North American comic book companies.
(And maybe it will get cool and we'll have two people emailing me claiming to be Sean and we'll have to use our powers of deduction to find out which one's a fake and then maybe we'll pick the wrong one and realize we made a mistake when "Sean" starts eating flies and calling us we realize he's an alien sleeper agent, and we'll have to use all our cunning and waking moments setting up elaborate traps to capture him when we should be spending our time on the simulation.)
All that sound good to the rest of yous?
Posted by Philip Schaeffer on 2007-05-13 22:09:34
Funny you should mention there being two people claiming to me, Philip, because I didn't post that message earlier. I generally go by "SKleefeld" online, and my account here has been that for a while now. In fact, I slept in this morning, and wasn't even awake as early as that time stamp indicates.
Curious...
Posted by SKleefeld on 2007-05-13 23:17:48
hey Tom,
I think the rules were pretty simple.I don't want to disturb any of you, I mean you all so cool, but I see that Patrick isn't still here, so...
I mean, I know some other people who are interested by this simulation project and....
anyway you know where to reach me , I'm actually at my sister's new appartment, with FOUR sisters she knows, I actually didn't think it was possible.....
Posted by notapotatoe on 2007-05-14 07:34:23
Just because Patrick hasn't posted here doesn't mean that he hasn't sent the confirmation email, you know?
Posted by Michael Heide on 2007-05-14 08:14:59
no, I don't know.You?
Posted by notapotatoe on 2007-05-14 10:05:30
oops.
What I'm just seeing, is there is nobody.that's all.

Fetsur
Man, I really wish you had gotten in on this Fetsur. You would have been great. I guess you might just have to wait until next time!
Posted by bigdaddyhub2 on 2007-05-14 10:23:52
Good luck all!
As one of the participants in the last round I want to wish all four of you my best for the coming two weeks - it can be pretty gruelling stuff trying to deal with the twists and turns every day while simulatanously attempting to anticipate any new curveballs Tom might throw at you.
Im looking forward to reading what promise to be some very long threads (Tom dont you remember last time!?! you are very brave to recruit four people this time)

Much appreciated, Hugh. We'll try and keep our answers as brief as possible; you know, no more than 20,000 words per post.
Posted by Philip Schaeffer on 2007-05-14 13:20:55
Thanks for the nice words, Hugh.

The Missing Link
Sorry Tom, was at a training today. Back in the saddle, and count me in!

bigdaddyhub2, thanks, that means a lot to me. I guess I'll settle for being backseat backseat editor once again this time round :)

The Marvel Editorial Simulation II Blog!!!
Sean, Mike and Philip (and Ed or Patrick, depending on who snags the slot) would like to invite all of you to check out the Marvel Editorial Simulation II Blog, which can be found at marveledsim.blogspot.com.
Because of the 500 word limit and the increased cooperation that will be necessary with having an EIC (whoever it might be), we decided it would be best to have a place online where we could let our ideas hang out and pitch some things amongst ourselves in a more unofficial capacity.
Clearly there's no need for you to religiously read the blog in order to follow the MES proper; think of this as the special features on a DVD, except not only can you get a behind the scenes look at how we're making our decisions, you can comment on them before we've officially turned them in! Now that would be a Special Edition DVD! You could prevent Brett Ratner from killing all the X-Men! You could stop Geore Lucas from having Han shoot first!
Posted by Philip Schaeffer on 2007-05-14 20:50:31
You could also stop George Lucas from having Greedo shoot first.
Everything about that sentence was wrong, and I apologize.
