Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited - The Real Story
2009-02-26 17:35:49
This is a question keeps popping up at cons, in news stories, and whenever I get the opportunity to talk to fans, so I want to try to put the rumor to rest, once and for all. So here it is:
The name of our digital subscription product, Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited, is not a swipe at any other company, no matter what its initials might render down to.
We picked the name because it explained our program clearly and succinctly, and it sounded good.
If any of you who are reading this have ever worked in a very fast paced environment you'll know, but sometimes when you're launching a product, things slip by. In all the hustle and bustle of designing, coding, pricing, merchandising, marketing, and trying to make the thing you're launching actually work, you sometimes miss small stuff. Small stuff like, oh, the name of your product coincides with the name of your competitor's (distinguished or not) comic book universe.
But in the end, we chose Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited because it was the right name for the product, not because we wanted to stick it to anyone else.
