Missed Masterworks
I've been keeping a watchful eye on the ever-increasing and very impressive roster of Marvel Masterworks reprints. However, one Marvel series from the seminal sixties is conspicuous by its absence. It featured work by, amongst others, Marvel greats Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Gene Colan, Bill Everett, John Severin, Marie Severin, and Roy Thomas.
I'm referring to Not Brand Echh!, a series so full of life, colour and the flavour of the '60s, plus the happy-go-lucky vibe of Marvel at the time. I really can't believe it's not been collected yet.
The spirit of Not Brand Echh! lives on through What The...?, Wha...Huh?, Next Wave, right through to Mini Marvels and Marvel Superheroes: What The...?, but the original is undoubtedly the best.
The Marvel Masterworks series has collected everything from Ant-Man to The Rawhide Kid to The Human Torch so how come Not Brand Echh! has been ignored so far? It must be the only '60s superhero series that hasn't been Masterworked so far.
Please do give a Not Brand Echh! collection some serious thought.
