Marvel Vs. DC in San Diego
2006-07-24 13:22:03
Here at work instead of sunny San Diego and VERY cranky about it. But we just got an email about the softball game (that I so wish I could have seen), and I thought I'd share it with you:

"Marvel pummeled DC at the charity softball game held at Comicon in San Diego yesterday. Final score: 23 to 10.

We win on the field as well as on the newsstand."

I love the sweet smell of victory! Too bad I smell the scent of sweaty NY right now instead...

I don't know all of the people who comprised the teams, but I got this list from Mark Brooks' deviant art page:

Marvel: Andy Schmidt, Axel Alonso, Esad Ribic, Billy Tucci, John Romita Jr, Dennis Calero, Jim Calafiore, Jeff Parker, Mitch Breitweiser, Robert Kirkman, Mike Marts, Mark McKenna, Tony Bedard, Greg Pak, Mark Brooks, Humberto Ramos

DC side, we have Editorial; Jim Lee; Adam Kubert; Mark Waid; Ale Garza, Scott Williams; Ryan Benjamin, Eddie Berganza; Peter Tomasi; Steve Wacker; Joan Hilty; Mike Carlin; Mark Chiarello, Dan DiDio

That's all I know. That and the fact that all these people are in a much better place than I right now. Damn them!!!

--Jen (Struggling to finish this week with half our number gone [Beaz and Youngquist] and probably shouldn't have stopped to write this)

PS See the T-Voort's blog for pictures!

The Roar of the Greasepaint, the Smell of the
Sorry that the Con left the your department Short-handed this week, Jen!

(Oh, the pun! The pun is bad!)

Still, someone has to hold down the fort in sweaty NY. Technically, it's sweaty here in San Diego, too. I can only hope that the new convention center is air-conditioned. Otherwise, my latex Rocket Racer outfit is going to be très stinky and I'll have to "accidentally" bump into Hydro-Man in order to cool off.

But seriously, thanks for keeping the lights on at Headquarters and congratulations on the softball game!

Axel is Ace!
Why are you scared of Axel, taurhaun? He's great!

J-Yo was out all week on vacation, but not to San Diego and Beaz was just out today for his sister's wedding. No San Diego for the trades department!! :( We get no love, even though we bring home the bacon!

Hug? ^_^
Aww sorry you couldn't be there Jen! I offer you a sympathetic hug. *Huggle* ^_^ Sounds like an amazing game though and you have to admit the line "We win on the field as well as on the newsstand." is an awesome one. Made me go "Ha! In your face!"

Hmm
What's Mark Brooks' deviant art page link?

Hoorah!
Go Marvel!

Sorry about your predicament. I'm not in San Diego, either (I desperately wish I was!) Rather, I'm in Texas, which is most likely even more sweaty than where you are. I hate Texas. So much.

Axel was on your team! That's great!

Texas vs. New York vs. San Diego
You're probably right, Texas probably is sweatier, although New York probably has a wider variety of smells. On the other hand, I would rather have been in either of those two places rather than standing in line for two hours in San Diego in 89 degree heat, as I did this past Saturday waiting to get into Comic-Con. Woe to all ye who do not pre-register!

No waiting for me!
Ah, but I wouldn't HAVE to wait! hehehehehe

(Sorry, I know, that was mean...) ;-P

Spelling
I am actually a very good speller. You do realise that the word "you" is not spelled "u" right?

Posted by Jen Grunwald on 2006-07-24 11:40:27

u is how people say it on the computer and you aren't a good speller go to the blog entry to when you were talking about how rogue is your favorite character you misspelled favorite and i corrected you go and and one more thing i'm not angry cause i just heard tool on the radio so i'm relaxed and tool rules not my favorite band, though

Eats, Shoots, and Leaves
It's a good thing that they don't deduct hero points for bad spelling and punctuation. Otherwise, many of us would be in trouble!

Oh, and the wait to get in to Comic-Con was worth it, although I never met my true heroes: the Official Handbook staff! :-)

And I surely would have said hello to the Trades Department staff had they been allowed to go.

Tori Spelling Lessons
Insert the word "spell" between the words "even" and "Grünwald" and it should make more sense.

Or maybe not.

still don't make sence
it doesn't to me

Posted by tarhaun on 2006-07-25 09:55:41
My new favorite catch phrase
I can even Grünwald with the umlaut!

That's too funny for words.

Posted by MBeaz on 2006-07-25 10:33:02
This is quite possibly the greatest comedy routine ever.

Posted by shortmikeshort on 2006-07-25 10:37:03
I think that the immortal words of Thumper's mother should be used here. "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. " And it applies to one person. And how in the world did this get so horribly off topic?!?! Lol.

Posted by TwilghtDragon on 2006-07-25 12:02:38
*@%*@$ you drago

Re: new favorite catchphrase
Glad to be of service, folks! Who knew my mad typing skillz could result in such happy accidents? You know, you could probably sing that phrase to the tune of "Tiptoe Through the Tulips".

And if you don't know what an umlaut is, you're just not rock 'n' roll!

HOWDY!
Yes San Diego would have been fun to make it to. But I heard it was hot over there! OH well. Way To Go Marvel!!! Comic Con Softball Champs!!!!
