You're On Notice
2006-08-02 09:50:18
I hope you have Cable, all of you out there in Marvel-Land, and I'm not talking about the time-traveller with a confusing backstory. (Seriously, can somebody explain it to me sometime?) No, I'm talking about the Cable that brings you Comedy Central, because EIC Joe Quesada's gonna be on the Colbert Report this Thursday. I'm a huge fan of the show, and I had the good fortune to score a standing-room only ticket! So Friday morning I'll give you all a behind-the-scenes look at the Colbert Report. Rumor is Colbert will be grilling Joe all about Civil War and try to get some spoilers out of him. Whose side am I on? Why, Steven Colbert's, of course. And, to steal a bit, that's the Word.

Wag of the Finger
A pre-emptive wag of the finger to Mr. Colbert. All I can say is that he'd better be on Iron Man's side!
Good luck, Joe! Have fun!
Now if only I had Photoshop, I could make an "I'm with Reducto" banner.
Also, thanks to a response to T-Voort's latest blog entry, my new catchphrase is "Britney Spears? Make Mine Marvel!"

Your screenname has the word "bear" in it, and you know what that means. Bearpod, you're on notice.
Posted by shortmikeshort on 2006-07-26 18:32:43
Also, Joe Q better not mention the upcoming "Grizzly" mini-series or he's bound to set Colbert off!

Alright, perhaps I was not watching carefully enough because I changed the channels once or twice .. but I am telling you I DID NOT see him at all on the show this evening.
I am confused.

u dont know what cable's back story is
i'll tell u okay cable is the son of cyclops and jean grey's clone (MOM)when he was born apocolyse infected him with a techno-organic virus so cyclops sent him to two millenia into the future that is not all of the story go his page in the marvel universe feture
Posted by tarhaun on 2006-07-27 22:55:18
He was on the show, stars&garters, trust me. The interviews are short and are easily missed. Grow an attention span and stop channel surfing! Sheeeeesh! And tarhaun, I think you actually made me care less about knowing Cable's backstory, if such a thing is possible.

I'm not sure what's going on here anymore. Should I have used an emoticon earlier? Would that have made things easier?
Posted by shortmikeshort on 2006-07-28 17:27:58
Emoticons Emoticons are for people who can't write well enough to convey their point of view. :-)
Aww, man. :-(
I just loused up my whole arguement. :-X

By the way, we've already seen the Ultimate Jen Grünwald, but how long before we see the Ultimate Mike Short? Or for that matter the "House of Mark Beazley"? Or the "Youngquist Avengers"?
Posted by Lonesome Pinky on 2006-07-29 14:56:22
you know, mike, I am mildly dissapointed that you did not get the joke. I mean, I know I wasn't waving my finger in your face or anything, but geeeeeez.
Why don't you just go east some gravy or something.
Yeah. I said it.

Posted by tarhaun on 2006-07-31 11:48:43
Nah, there is no meaning to either phrase. They're both the results of typographical errors. Reading into them too deeply is hazardous to your sanity.
Posted by Lonesome Pinky on 2006-07-31 15:23:29
thank good ness i thought u were talkin about mark and jen doing it
Posted by tarhaun on 2006-07-31 17:19:30
Sorry to disappoint, but we here at the Trades Department just don't feel "that way" about each other. Thanks for the entertainment guys!
Posted by shortmikeshort on 2006-07-31 21:28:04
I'd say that's a good thing, Mike. After all, you do have deadlines to meet. Otherwise, I'll never get my copy of The Essential She-Hulk. Still, have you persuaded Nick Lowe to do a "crossover"?

Idea for TPB Hey Trades,
As I was pondering the greatest comics ever created, it occured to me that a wonderful collection would be all of the classic sentinel stories bound together. It could be that this exists and I missed it, but I gotta tell you that nothing makes me happier than fighting giant killer robots.
Posted by bigdaddyhub2 on 2006-08-07 17:06:01

MARK WAID - CAPT. AMERICA Hi:
As a sole collector of graphic novels, I am very happy with the vast amount of graphic novels Marvel has been putting out for the last few years. I recently picked up the Visionaries: Kurt Busiek - Spider-Man and thought it was great. And it reminded me of another great series: Capt. America by Mark Waid & Ron Garney.
Is there any chance of seeing this as a Visionaries book. They run on that character was nothing short of amazing and would make a wonderful addition to many Marvelites' collections. I would get it except I have most of the trades. That is, unless, they do every single Cap comic Mark Waid wrote. In that case, you have my money - no questions asked! Thanks for the great stuff and keep it up!

ULTIMATES 2 COLLECTED HARDCOVER EDITION BTW, when will this be collected in hardcover and solicited to the public? Just looking for a date.
Also, you might as well do an OMNIBUS of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN from Stan Lee & Steve Ditko. I'd rather get these gorgeous editions then buy the stories via MASTERWORKS or ESSENTIALS. Will it happen? Thanks for the ear.
