Really? Bill? Him, not Siege, must be why JMS left.

JMS was doing and Awesome job with THOR.
I never even paid attention to ANY Thor book before he started.
The artwork was Incredible too - the book had some incredible
atmosphere - hands-down it became my favorite book -
despite the shipping delays. I could wait every other month
for this book if they would have just left this creative team in place.
I'm certainly going to purchase the GIANT-SIZE Finale.
..but sadly this will most likely be my last as with JMS.

I'll give the new creative team a try, but under JMS this had become one of my favourite Marvel books. A real slow-burning epic.

So wait, Thor is over? I mean handing the title off to a new team is one thing, but why end the whole book?
ITS MY FAVORITE TITLE! %#$?

Goodbye masterfully written, beautifully illustrated, perfect example of modern superhero comic book.
Hello, yet another giant crossover mega epic world changing and probably underwhelming story arc.
Kieron Gillen is a fantastic writer and I'm sure he'll do great, but was there really any reason to disrupt a book this good?
We aren't privy (yet, if ever) to who decided JMS is off the book (if he himself isn't bothering, or if Marvel decided to give another creative team a try, or contractual obligations, etc.) but, and this is with the hope that the quality stays high, has anyone ever considered that for as good as the book is when it comes out, that a monthly shipping every other month on average, is technically only bringing in half the sale numbers it could?
Now, with no offense to anyone's preferences and likes, Thor is one of my all time favorite characters and I was not enjoying the slow churn out *overall*. Yes the development reads really good in retrospect, yes the quality is high, yes the atmosphere is epic (and I especially enjoyed the giant-sized offerings when things like 600 hit) but the slow developing stories that were the first 6 issues or so of the run were pretty much agonizing when coupled with month gaps - - and with him showing up hardly anywhere else, the current interlocking treatment of the MU felt his absence even more.
I'd've almost suggested that a companion book of Thor's adventures (present day) be weaved between the main book's slow pace to lessen the impact had JMS been staying on (or coming back) but lower quality might of been even more damaging (especially if Red Hulk vs Thor is anything to go by). Some people probably would argue it was ok for Thor to be mostly isolated so the pace should be considered more Ultimates-esque, but since it's been so far touching on fall out with Ironman, Loki's shenanigans and Doom's hosting of the Asgardians, I maintain that this was expected to factor into the Secret Invasion to Dark Reign to Siege changeovers much more but didn't.
I'd say a good 5 or 6 issues more could have been that would've fleshed out a lot more about Loki and Doom's plans, but now we are at the gates of Siege with a mere glimpse of the greater potential stories of Asgardians-in-Latveria could've produced (though I must also note that 'they' dropped the ball on the Atlantean-army-in-Latveria just as much or more) and Doom could've been driving stories and sales just as much as Osborn all this while with his own endeavors (it would've probably made Dark Reign feel meatier if every last thing didn't end up back at Osborn's doorstep). ~ maybe a 6, 5 or even 4 parter could shed some light on Latveria's hosting of Alanteans and Asgardians after the fact - heck, they've done it with House of M, so why not?
