I hope I'm not the only person who is not happy about this.
Considering all the emphasis put on Steve being really dead and that he was not going to come straight back to life I think Brubaker has made an error.
He may well have been planning this all along and it might be the greatest story ever told but I still don't like it. I like Bucky as Cap and the world that the heroes now inhabit since Steve's death. Bringing him back will change the whole complexion of the MU. Bringing him back is meant to reflect to return of hope to the US right? Well that isn't the case everywhere else in the world and in my opinion it would be better if there were someone else to represent the return of Hope as a concept, not a personification.
There is also another thing that bugs me. Brubaker seems to want to do everything with Cap. Im all for long runs on books and this has been excellent however, Bru will have killed and brought back Steve and after you have done both those things where do you go from there in terms of big stories? While I am sure good writers will always be able to do well with whatever situation they find themselves with (apart from PAD) Brubaker has in a handful of years monopolised all the most hard hitting stories. What will the book be like once he leaves?
Feel free to shout me down but its just the way I feel. I'm probably taking too much of a zero sum outlook but I suppose that is just the way I am.
another stereotypical rebirth of a hero who "died." this ticks me off. They kill him off for what? 2 and a half years? and now hes back!?!?!?!

Well, they'll need him back around the time of the movie for new readers, so they might as well do it now. _________________ Thor is more powerful than Sentry, get over it.
Civil War #7: one of the worst books ever published by Marvel, so writers, make sure it doesn't happen again!!!

Come on everybody should have known this was going to happen. How many ressurections have we seen before? Bucky coming back should have been proof enough.
I am so ready for Steve's return. I am glad Brubaker stuck around long enough to do it instead of some half eff ort by another writer.
Thanks Marvel for letting Bru tell the story at his own pace.
Welcvome back Steve

Agreee, 110%....My speculation on him returning in July were correct, and I dunno if I like that to much. I DONT want Steve back, now they will have to change Avengers, and Caps appearance in all these random comics lately will be POINTLESS! The thunder Buck has gained just went out the window.....I think im gonna cry

If the real Steve Rogers is really to return as the one and only true Captain America in Reborn, that this could make a nice conclusion to a potential Ed Brubaker Captain America Omnibus Hardcover volume 2, otherwise, I would just continue to ignore the present series, and buy more from other publishers, with other very exciting series which are more than enough for my entertainment, like Project Superpowers, Red Circle, all Black Night related, all New Krypton related. PS: I would put the one and only true Captain America Steve Rogers and all related like his presences in other series like the Avengers as my #1 priority, but for that I will need the real deal, Steve Rogers, the first, the original, the true, the best Captain America there will ever be. _________________ heroescomics.9f.com - heroes-comics.bravehost.com
I think they're doing this for a good reason. I believe they're going to use his death and re-emergence as an opportunity to fully explore the difference between true patriotism and country-fanaticism. To flesh out exactly how many American ideals have gone out the window with the introduction of the homeland security obsession.
And I don't think we should worry about it being "too soon"; I get the feeling this is going to be like watching an extended version of A Christmas Story with Steve Rogers and the 20 ghosts of American Freedom Past.

Although, I was just getting used to Bucky as Captain America, the stress of such a title to live up to with his past is too much. I am reletively new to Marvel, but I followed Brubaker's run from the get go, and have been a fan of his writing. Steve's death and now return does run hand and hand with American culture and I hope that it does bring back hope to our generation.
