...me and my friend have been arguing ever since Avengers: Age of Ultron was released. He thinks that Vision is literally simply Jarvis in a new body. But I disagree. I think that Vision is an entirely new entity. ...let me walk through this

So Ultron tries to make a perfect synthetic body for himself and uploads a good bit of himself into the body...then Tony and Bruce get ahold of that body and try to upload Jarvis into it (they start to but it's ruined by Quicksilver). Then Thor (after seeing visions of the future and the world being destroyed by the mind stone) brings Vision to life with an electric hammer bash.

The Vision then wakes up and is confused about where he is. After a brief fight scene ,he is changing his appearance...and talking. Captain America asks why he sounds like Jarvis. Then Vision says : -(this is as close to quoted as I can remember) - "I am not the creation of Ultron, I am not Ultrom himself or Jarvis. I am simply myself."

So...in that single line Vision stated that he is NOT Jarvis. Yet my friend still states that Jarvis is the Vision. He And I have argued back as well as I can but he won't budge. But I feel that the fact is...that Vision (although he has some of Jarvis that he was created from/made up of) is a new entity that is not "controlled" by Jarvis (like the way Jarvis can control the Iron Man suits).

This is a very raging argument and im slowly being beat down by a lot of nieve people agreeing with him. And I would appreciate a lot of feedback on the matter below.

So my ultimate questin is: is Jarvis the Vision?

P.S.- this is a very conflicting argument with my friend and I. Everyone around me agrees with him and i am being ridiculed by them. Even though i feel VERY strongly that I am correct in the matter.

@Flamin-Ice I agree with you. Jarvis is not Vision as Vision thinks for himself. Vision just contains the voice and basic technological mind of Jarvis but is controlled by the mind stone in his head. Therefore, Jarvis is not Vision as they do not think or act alike. Vision could probably control the Iron Man suits if he wanted to as he could hack Stark Industries easily but as he is programmed to do the morally right thing he would only do that in the worst circumstance, for example the end of the world due to Iron Man suits. Your friend is wrong, mainly, but is slightly right. Jarvis did become Vision but Vision is himself his own entity and isn't controlled by Jarvis.

I doubt that this will be answered but here goes: Has Marvel ever gotten any comments/letters about the legibility of Vision's face from people with red/green color blindness? Graphic designers are taught to avoid red surrounded by green and I've always wondered if that would be an issue with Vision's design.Β
