The Story
Who is the mystery assassin we have yet to see? This issue answers those questions and more! The hunt for the killer takes a bizarre turn and Steve Rogers' life turns with it. Shattered fragments of Cap's past are called into question by new memories that keep flooding his mind. Is someone playing mind games with him, or has he been in the dark about certain events for years? Only a trip to the scene of his most devastating failure will answer that question.

This is arguably the best Captain America issue of all time. Where do you start? First of all, it is utterly inspiring to go back to Cap and Bucky's deaths and develop the scene. It's such an iconic part of both character's histories, yet it happened off panel and over the years, there have been so many different incarnations of it. Bucky was stuck, not stuck, it blows up suddenly, he knows he's going to die etc. if you're really into the character history, I suggest you check out Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes, which in my opinion had the best version. Bucky gets stuck on the plane and they both know it's about to blow, Cap goes to help him and Bucky kicks him off saying the words to the effect of "the world needs Cap more than it needs Bucky". Still I really like this. Now I didn't read this in real time but I can only imagine what it would have been like when the seemingly Bucky look alive was revealed - I doubt many would have really believed it was Bucky. What is it they say, all comic book characters come back from the dead except Uncle Ben, Jason Todd and Bucky Barnes. This is such a ballsy move by Brubaker. Well done. Utterly iconic.

The first and last two pages repeat. I think that means pages are missing
