The Story
Legacy isn’t a dirty word... but it’s an irrelevant one. It’s not important what our parents did. It matters what WE do. Someone has to save the world. You’re someone. Do the math. The critically acclaimed team of Gillen/McKelvie/Wilson (with added Norton Sauce) decide to reinvent the teen superhero comic for the 21st century, uniting Wiccan, Hulkling and Hawkeye with Loki, Marvel Boy and Ms. America. No pressure. Young Avengers is as NOW! as the air in your lungs, and twice as vital. It’s the book that knows Hyperbole is the BEST! THING! EVER!

Contrary to what a lot of others say below, this series was one of the best I've ever read (Journey into Mystery, also written by Kieron Gillen, competing right for first place). When I read the first volume of the Young Avengers, followed by Avengers: the Children's Crusade, I couldn't really expect much from this one: Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung had set the bar pretty high, I initially doubted that any other versions of the Young Avengers would ever be able to compare.

Then, of course, I came across this.

This second installment of the Young Avengers has an amazingly diverse team. It's a brilliant feat of irony: Loki was the original cause for the Avengers to band together, and now a new version of him is gathering a new version of the Avengers, only this time he's on the side of the good guys. The romance between Wiccan and Hulkling is once again holding strong, and I think Gillen really took their relationship to a whole new level of complexity in this series. And the art by Jamie McKelvie is spectacular: it breaths life into the already vivid storyline and complements the writing beautifully. There are also many humorous points injected within the plot.

I wouldn't give anyone anymore spoilers, since there are some who read the comments before delving into the comics. Nonetheless, this is a definite read for anybody. It might be a bit mundane or boring in the first issues or two, especially for the new readers who can't immediately pick up on the personality and relationship dynamics between characters like a hardcore Young Avengers fan would, but the story heats up drastically afterwards, remaining action-packed and engaging all the way until the end.

Guys, if you haven't been introduced to this world of the Young Avengers by Gillen and McKelvie yet, then you are seriously losing out.

So dumb and Boring that I checked the writers name (Gillen) so that I never waste money on one of his comics again.

I have to agree with both of you. By far the worst series so far with Marvel Now. Definite waste of money. Very disappointing.

I got this after CBR 5star review. I wish I had not wasted the money on this. 1 Star comic in my opinion!

No comments except that I always thought that loki will do better in X men. lol
