Good but uneven story that could have been great; Steve Englehart manages some solid action and great flip-flop pacing, but both story threads are marred by ridiculous elements - A.  the convenient, absurd creation of the stupid electric monster, and B.  -- for me, grating execution in the totally unbelievable commando raid, with the ultra cliche pipe-smoking officer, conveniently absent soviet air defense and radar net, etc.  Englehart obviously didn't have time to write it better, and/or no military experience, to be willing to go with so many lame, convenient plot devices for the commando raid.  Loved Hawkeye showing up, and give a point for the clever Grounding demise of the monster, though I don't think it actually adheres to the laws of electricity.  I have a love/hate relationship with Herb Trimpe art; love many long distance layouts, not thrilled by his actual body depictions, but mostly enjoyed the visuals on this issue.
