This sets things up perfectly for Stan Lee to push another underserved social issue -- Child Support. Spiderman luck means that in a couple months we could find out that Doc Ock left Anna Maria pregnant. Her great wisdom would make her put the well-being of the offspring first -- and sue Peter for child support (half Parker Industries if he still has it). Heck Spiderman luck would likely mean Anna Maria is expecting a whole spider nest of tiny Spidey offspring each with possible super powers. So Anna Maria would be forced to out Peter as Spiderman to force him to quit random crime fighting to face

"with great fertility comes the greatest responsibility - to your many children and to the world since they all may have super powers."

Heck Ironman and other bachelor heroes could have similar issues and hit Peter up for expanding his nest by a few kids into a new Secret Wars type adventure at a Moon based nursey

I've been reading the old series, Amazing, Spectacular, and Marvel Team UP.  I'm up to the late 70's in each.  This is the first Spidy comic I've read of this later gerneration, so I've got a gap of about 35 years.  Anyway, I love this comic.  I've only read the first three issues but WOW.  Well done.

This series is the reason I read comics.  I'm new to comics but I loved spiderman as a kid and I loved the sound of this story arc.  I bought volume 1 and I'm hooked on comics now.  I read everything now on Marvel unlimited and buy comics every week.

This is probably one of the best moment of Spidey, really. It is so original, and let you see the Hero from the former Villain perspective. I know a lot of people hating Superior Spider-Man, saying "Marvel ruined Spidey for the last time, blah blah blah...", but I love how they are exploring Otto's human side. You feel bad for him, you cheer for him, heck, you even AGREE with him in his decisions as Spider-Man. It's not the creepy stuff we'd expect, like trying to hit on MJ and such. And the art is outstanding.

It's a love hate relationship but it's so much fun with Superior Ock. The artwork is amazing! I want so many tattoos from these issues... but he is...very efficient for modern society.

Been reading Spidey for *40* years and this is some of the best it's ever been. And man...I have to say I find myself *agreeing* with Doc Ock that he's a Superior Spider-Man. I know it's a conceit of comics that villains have to break free, cause more mayhem, and be recurring characters, but within that conceit, Ock is putting them down for good, covering more ground, and demolishing a MASSIVE criminal empire right in the heart of the city that all the other heroes just seemed to ignore (Shadowland).

Okay, I don't know if the writers and artists actually read these, but I just recently caught up with Superior Spider-man.  And I liked seeing Doctor Octopus as a human being.  He has a more human side while inside Pete's body.  Anna Maria is the best thing that ever happened to him and he dumped Trancer warmly, well as warmly as Doctor Octopus could anyhow.

When Doctor Octopus comes back, and after seeing the other side, I hope he stops his villainy and enters into a quiet life.  I also hope new body has a better brain and his insanity is cured.  I also hope that Peter thanks Doc Ock for all the good he has done with his body -- he given him a Doctorate Degree and a new technology startup.  Also, a better relationship with Cardiac and perhaps a better relationship with Flash Thompson.

I am hoping for good things for Doc Ock.  He maybe a megalomaniacal scumbag with four mechanical arms, but there is an opportunity that he can drop his scumbaggery and just be a simple egocentric jerk.

Awesome, brave series. I always liked Spider Man, but had never committed to collecting one of his monthly series until Superior arrived.

After reading the Superior Spider-man, I just think the Amazing Spider-man 700.1 series so far is just not as good... It's kind of boring. Who would have thought Doc Oc would have changed to become the world's greatest super-hero? I didn't... Yeah he did some unconventional "spider-man" things, but he's making Pete use more tech and really stopping some crime! Amazing Spider-man 700.1 is just confusing because of #700 going into the Superior Spider-man. I could see Pete coming back, but still being the Superior Spider-man in some way with tech, advancements, new people around him wouldn't be so hard to swallow for some.

@bowserclaw As far as I know there is a 6 month lead time between the physical Comic and the Online version. The next issue should be up sometime this month if I'm right.

@EltonJ Yeah, I don't think Peter is going to be grateful for being mind raped and nearly killed. Not to mention forcing him to have incestuous memory sex with own aunt/mother figure. If the comes back the guy is going to have to be pretty damaged. I love redemption stories but I never bought that somehow Doc Ock is a better Spider-Man than Spider-Man. Octavius is an even bigger screw up than Parker but suddenly he changes bodies and magically gets his life together? What? That said, at this point I'd be fine with Peter staying dead. It's better than just bringing him back like nothing happened.

@jjerry76  Funny, I was thinking just the opposite.  I love these stories, but I'm ready for pete back.  It's sort of crazy how many universes (major ones) Pete is being killed in.  Ultimate, 616, I'm surprised he is still alive in the Marvel Universe line :P
