The Story: (hide) Artist Basil Hallward has heard the vile rumors being spread about Dorian Gray, the man whose portrait he painted years ago. He confronts Gray on a fog-shrouded street and demands to know why so many of those close to him have had careers and reputations ruined—one young man a suicide! Dorian takes the artist to the attic where he keeps his portrait shrouded in canvas and uncovers it to Basil’s horror! And the horror is just beginning. Don’t read it in the dead of night.
