A basic question of the X-mens current procedur for mutant kind, being all isolated on a floating nickle iron astroid in the water. Cause last time i check potential love-intrests/mates don't simply show up by boat on ones doorstep.
Can, should the X-men have a reproduction policy?
Lets for the time being just leave out everyone 16 and under.
Should the X-men let things just "Take there cource"?
Set up "Test tubes" and "artifical womb's" so prevalent in science fiction? (Even though I believe thats a authoral cop out)
or go all Psi-cor (Babylon 5) with chosen couples for best genetic viability, able to produce stable offspring.
And by stable i mean, their offspring wont Explode in a nuclear fireball upon Manafestation. Convert into a form incapable of reproduction themselves, become randomly psychotic (coughsabertoothcough). Cause the last thing you need in Utopia is a serial killer running loose.
As Madrox Juant into the future show's Former mutants can produce Mutant decendents. And Quicksilver proves that depowerd mutants can ocassionaly regain their powers.
So would depowerd mutants be included?
What about the cloned like the Cookoo's(Artificialy aged to what?) or X-23(how old is she)?
This provided that this policy is generaly accepted by the Mutants on Utopis, as thir poulation stands now, they can neither afford infighting or any type of stustained internal violence.

thats a good idea you got there. they should let things take its course and should be albe/allowed to knock boots. as for stability, itsa 50-50 chance. depowered mutants should be included if they wanted to participate. but it might be a bit hard for to have physical relationships unless they found a way around it.

my opinion
Rogue has control of her powers now. She can boink as much as she wants now.
I remember Madrox talking to beast about a breeding programme in endangered species but for some reason it wasn't viable at the time. I think it was because there were not enough mutants to avoid in breeding and at the time they were cut off from other humans by the O.N.E setting up sentinels around the mantion and keeping most of the mutants there. The same essentialy applies for Utopia.
I don't think there is a restriction on them knocking boots I just don't think many are in a relationship at the moment.
I wouldn't put it past Dr. Nemesis to have made a few runs at a couple of Sperm Banks though. He seems like the kinda guy to think of and execute that kind of plan. _________________ I cannot recomend X-Factor enough but here's trying.
Unfortunately, the biggest problem preventing the most common sense approach to replenishing the mutant population is simply the misconception that it is impossible to write an interesting comic book character who is also a responsible spouse and parent.
I can think of a couple of a few currently neglected characters whose stories can only be improved with some good, old fashioned romance, marriage, and a few babies.
Breeding programs are a bit unethical in my opinion. I'm thinking nazi.
However, natural breeding, why not?
And what Beast said in Endangered Species is @*&. Though, of course, this is comics. Science is only used when it benefits the story. _________________ If the snow's crust can carry a grown man on June 24th, then spring will be late.

Its just that utopia was created because of Osbourn + the fact that Bastons zombie-puppet was trying to pass legislation that infringed on mutants rights of reproduction.
Yet no one on Utopia seems to be attempting to concive a child.
Actually it seems that Scott and Emma are the only people in a semi norma relationship of that nature. The havent even dicussed children, or even Marrage.
You would think some one would even suggest a dating survice for active x-men. I mean take for example the Flirtation t!t for tat going on with Magma and Sunspot.
Great for starting a relationship normaly. But either if them can catch(in a bad way) a bullet in the field. Bam scrtach off a couple.
The X-Men is like a pack of wolves right now. Not an army, certainly not a family, but a pack of wolves. Only the alpha pair is allowed to mate.
And that has to be done very publicly, for the sake of mutant kind. _________________ If the snow's crust can carry a grown man on June 24th, then spring will be late.

Of course. Because if Emma and Scott don't remain a couple, what hope is there for the rest of mutants?!?!?!?!!!!
(Yes, I think that was one of the stupidest statements I've ever read in a comic book.) _________________ Sunspot: "You were killed, Professor. Mutantkind was nearly exterminated! It's hard to hold onto a dream when you're fighting for survival."

No, this was before 'The Confession'. I forget the issue number, but I think it was in the Sisterhood arc. Dazzler and Northstar had taken Pixie out drinking, and came back at some ungodly hour to find Scott sleeping on a sofa. He chewed out the adults, and they asked if he and Emma were having problems. He said no, and Dazzler made the above idiotic statement. (Not an exact quote, but very, very close. I'll dig out the issue if you want more details. ) _________________ Sunspot: "You were killed, Professor. Mutantkind was nearly exterminated!
