They came, they displayed, they conquered! Marvel's attendance at Brand Licensing Europe 2009 was certainly an 'Ironclad' success. This year Marvel brought the Hall of Armor to London to create what became the most talked about stand at the show - 'Stark Industries'.
The show took place at Grand Hall Olympia and was attended by a record-breaking 4,862 licensees, retail buyers and promotional partners from 58 countries. Attendees flocked to see the suits in all their glory, and Iron Man 2 quickly became the talk of the London based show. Jon Gibson, Event Manager at Advanstar UK (the show's organizer) commented that 'One of the highlights this year was undoubtedly the Stark Industries office, a real showstopper of a stand in the centre of the exhibition hall. We're grateful for the MARVEL team's super-heroic efforts to bring the Hall of Armor to London. Backed up with a highly creative advertising campaign ("ask for Tony"), this was an object lesson in how get the best possible return from exhibiting.'
Not only did Marvel showcase Stark Industries, but the Marvel stand completed the buzz with merchandise from some of our top licensees on display. Marvel also gave well-received presentations in the show's Screening Suite, highlighting releases slated for the next two years. Queues formed along the corridors with visitors eager to get a piece of the action, both at Stark and Marvel. With a captivating screening and Miss Captain America helping out as well, Marvel drew the biggest audience of all the participating studios and left a positive impression with all who attended.
Thanks go to all who made BLE 2009 so successful and memorable for Marvel, and here's to terrific licensing programs to come.
