With Asgard under siege by Norman Osborn, the Dark Avengers, and the forces of H.A.M.M.E.R., its a wonder that the mythic city has yet to come crashing down onto Oklahoma soil. Thor's hometown has definitely seen better days and to tie-in with this week's SIEGE #3 we're spotlighting some of the most awesome happenings that have ever taken place within the mystical walls of the ancient city.
Malekith the Accursed, king of the Dark Elves, makes a desperate gambit to destroy all of Midgard using the Casket of Ancient Winters, an Aesir artifact containing the absolute cold from Jutenheim, home of the Frost Giants. Now only Thor stands in the way of eternal snowfall, but unfortunately the Thunder God has fallen under the spell of Lorelei, sister to The Enchantress. To save the Earth, the Norse gods may need to use the eternal Flame of Destruction, hidden deep within Asgard. But will Odin give up so easily what his two brothers died to protect?
One of Asgard’s greatest champions and her most beloved son, Balder the Brave stands tall as the shining example of courage, kindness and honor among the Aesir. Interesting then that he should fall for the frosty-hearted queen of the Nornkeep, Karnilla. But with Odin having fallen in battle against the flame giant Surtur, Thor gathers his brethren about him for a quest into the bowels of the underworld, and sends trusty Agnar to find Balder. The Nornqueen so loves her brave warrior she will not have him leave her side, but Balder soon learns the situation and begins intense training to aid his brothers-in-arms against the forces of the underworld.
In the wake of "Avengers: Disassembled," Ragnarok falls on Thor and his immortal brethren. But this time, The God of thunder aims to change the destiny of the gods. He knows of Those Who Sit Above in Shadow and how their machinations have led to this moment. Thor himself initiaties the final battle, but only as a distraction to hide his real motives. His true goal: the destruction of the Tapestry of Fate. With this item in ruins, the Norse gods would be free to do what they pleased, unchained by the vicious repitition of death and rebirth. But will Those Who Sit Above in Shadow be content to merely watch as one of their pawns brings an end to their game? Does Thor have the power to save all of Asgard from its fate?
Past the rainbow bridge and the ever vigilant Heimdall lies Asgard, fabled home of the Norse gods. The Golden Realm holds many secrets within its stone walls and one of the most powerful waits in the all-father Odin’s trophy chamber for one worthy enough to lift it. One young god hopes to prove his worth this very day. Unfortunately for the not-yet-so-mighty Thor, no matter his godly strength, he cannot lift the enchanted uru hammer Mjolnir. But after Loki sets three terrible spiders on the Thunder godling and his friends Sif and Balder, Odin readies the youths for a quest to test their mettle, sharpen their skills, and prove their worth. Thus begins the amazing adventures of Thor!
Broxton, Oklahoma just got a nice new landmark courtesy of the Mighty Thor. Newly returned from the void between life and death, the Thunder God brings Asgard, to a small plot of land just outside the little city. As one can imagine , teleporting a mythical city out of thin air onto American soil can stir up some problems with local law enforcement officials. Can Thor secure a home for his goldy compatriots and then locate them as well?
