Revealing the Origin of Halo's Master Chief

Brian Reed and Felix Ruiz tell the story this fall in HALO: FALL OF REACH - BOOT CAMP

Marvel and 343 Industries are proud to announce HALO: FALL OF REACH - BOOT CAMP #1, the graphic fiction event answering the question on the minds of gamers around the world-what's the secret on the planet of Reach that led to the creation of the Master Chief? This September, fan-favorite creators Brian Reed and artist Felix Ruiz team up to adapt the New York Times best-selling novel, Halo: Fall of Reach, and bring the world of Halo to life like you've never seen it before!

Before he was Master Chief, he was John -- a boy stolen from his parents and conscripted into the SPARTAN II program on the fortress world of Reach. But as the galaxy falls into dark times, one doctor must pay a terrible price to keep humanity from being destroyed.

"We're excited to bring this gripping novel to life in graphic fiction form," said Ruwan Jayatilleke, Marvel Senior Vice President, Development & Planning, Print, Animation and Digital Media. "The Halo universe has produced some of the most compelling science fiction action epics of the century and Fall of Reach is right up there. If you've never experienced Halo before, this is a great place to jump on board."

What are the secrets of Master Chief's origin, and what happened on Reach to make it the most important planet in humanity's struggle for survival? Find out in HALO: FALL OF REACH - BOOT CAMP #1, adapting the hit novel this fall!

now i love marvel and i love halo but i think the book is way better. now i havnt read the comic yet. but just sayin. but i got to say get the book. it is an amazing backstory to the halo games and franchise.

@deadpoolfan88 This isn't Marvel and Bungie, its Marvel and 343 Industries, in case you didn't know, Halo: Reach is Bungie's last Halo game and then the Halo property fully belongs to 343 indusries, a division of Microsoft (because Microsoft officailly owns Halo). Bungie is going on to make a multi-platform game with activision.

Don't get me wrong this does sound pretty good and I will definitely get it, but I'm just disappointed that they're just retelling how he became a Spartan as a kid. Anyone who read the novel Fall of Reach already knows that. I would rather a story about Blue team (John, Kelly, Linda, Fred and Kurt) or even the chapter of Chiefs life when he was in his twenties which we've never seen or heard any stories about. Nevertheless this story still does sound pretty exciting and I'm excited to see what kind of twist Brian Reed will put on this story.

I might get this because my little brother is a huge HALO fan.

About time! I know i can't get enough of stories in the HALO universe.

Amazing! Can't wait! I hope this is not the only comic adaption of Eric Nylund's work.

Wow that sounds awesome!!! There's no way in heck I'll buy it myself, but I hope it does well though. The only problem I have with this is that Brian Reed is doing this. Although most of his work is solid gold, sometimes it can be a little boring (think Ms.Marvel). Irregardless, I really hope this title goes well.

Sweet i'll love to see Bungie and Marvel make a project together.
