Softball and comics, they go hand in hand. Well maybe not, but on July 26, 2007 you can play a part in helping Marvel Comics defeat DC Comics at the annual game held between the two companies in San Diego. How you ask? Well all you have to do is go to eBay and bid for your chance to win a position on the Marvel roster. This is your chance to play alongside comic greats such as Esad Ribic, Peter David, Paul Jenkins, John Romita Jr., Humberto Ramos and some guy named Joe Quesada! Rosters are always subject to change, but if YOU win, you're there. And to sweeten the deal, one hundred percent of the profit from the auction is going towards The Hero Initiative. The Hero Initiative provides a safety net for former comic creators in need. The Hero Initiative is dedicated to helping creators with emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and entry back into paying work. As a member of the team, Captain Mike Pasciullo will assign your position and give you an official Marvel uniform. The Hero Initiative will provide luxury motorcoach transportation to and from the game on the Marvel team bus! The game is: Thursday, July 26 3 PM (You MUST be ready to board the team bus at 2 PM!) Morley Field at Balboa Park You MUST bring your own glove! You MUST bring your own cleats if you want to wear them (not required, but a very good idea!) All other equipment will be provided by Hero.
