This week we're shining the spotlight on Wolverine's fiery female clone, X-23, to get you ready for her new series, hitting store shelves in September. Catch up on all her assorted adventures; from her chaotic and unhappy childhood, to the emergence of her heroic side as a member of the New
The story opens on a young woman in a less than reputable looking hotel room, with a half-dressed man. The mean streets of New York eat people up and spit them out every single day, and this girl just happens to be its latest victim. In another part of town, Kiden Nixon walks back into the life of the teacher that unintentionally took a bullet for her, and Ms. Palmer seems less than thrilled. The lives of these three women will become hopelessly intertwined, tangled in knots that only a set of adamantium claws could hope to cut--luckily, our mysterious young woman happens to be sporting a pair. See the first appearance of X-23 in this very issue!
UNCANNY X-MEN #450
A group of mutants find themselves laid out in the morgue, victims of razor-sharp claws. Now the X-Men need to find the killer before the report of more mutant-related deaths hits the airwaves. Bishop and his crew troll the seedy back alleys of District X, looking to pick up the murderer's trail. What they uncover leads them to Wannabee's, a mutant-themed club at the heart of Mutant Town, where the X-Men blend right in, but unfortunately, so does their prey. The adamantium sparks fly as Wolverine and X-23 meet for the first time, and we guarantee it won't be pretty.
X-23 #1 (2005)
Department H created X-23 to be the next Wolverine, an unstoppable killing machine, a trained assassin from birth. But how did this little girl come to be? Martin Sutter, Xander Price, and Sarah Kinney hoped to replicate the feral mutant, but the DNA seemed too unstable, so a new plan formed: make Logan's clone a female. Little did Doctor Kinney realize that she would be forced to carry her creation to term, and birth her "daughter" into a life of terror and violence. Will X-23 ever forgive her? Will she ever forgive herself?
X-23: TARGET X #1
A 15-year-old girl stands alone in a room of unforgiving steel. Wild beasts laced with surgical implants and advanced cybernetics stalk her in a slow, deliberate circle. Then, in a flash, they attack with vicious tooth and claw, fangs snapping at her small frame. But the girl slashes back with claws of her own, more formidable than anything found in nature. Her name is X-23, she's Wolverine's clone, and she's very very good at what she does.
NEW X-MEN #33
After an explosive battle with Nimrod, the newest band of X-Men need some time to relax and pick up the pieces of their shattered lives. Unfortunately for X-23, Headmistress Frost thinks she should find her peace of mind away from the Xavier Institute. But Mercury wants her new friend to stay, because even though she lacks any sort of rudimentary social skills, she saved them all. So the young mutants head out for some girl talk over coffee, and that's just what Kimura and her team want, as she and her stormtrooper intend to bring X-23 back home by any means necessary.
