Stan Lee has long made his mark on everything from comics to movies and TV shows. Now, he’s made one more: on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce awarded Stan “The Man” his very own star on the historic Walk of Fame Tuesday in a special ceremony attended by press and public, all to celebrate the achievements of one of the greatest creators in comics.
With January 4 declared Stan Lee Day in Hollywood, “The Man” took to the podium and stole the show.
“Some Stan Lee Day. The schools are still open, they’re delivering mail,” joked the legendary writer.
Wanting to keep things brief, Stan ended by thanking everyone for being there. Because, he added, “if you weren’t here, I’d feel like an absolute idiot standing up here making a speech to nobody! So I love you all, and my parting word, of course, is excelsior!”
Finally, Stan’s very own star saw the light of day on the Walk of Fame, to uproarious applause from the assembled crowd.
You can visit Stan’s star yourself in front of 7072 Hollywood Boulevard, and pay tribute to the man who helped create so many of your favorite heroes. Excelsior indeed!
