There is a calm before every storm and in the months to come, the Children of the Atom will be faced with a decisive turning point. One that threatens to pit brother against brother, lover against lover, and mutant against mutant.

X-MEN: PRELUDE #1 cover by Giuseppe Camuncoli

“To understand what is coming in the X-Men, you need to understand what has already transpired” says X-Men Senior Editor Nick Lowe. “The history of the X-Men is a huge tapestry and what we’re trying to do here is sum up the necessary info, while filling in blanks and adding new twists that will set fanboys a-Twittering. In this series, Paul lays out the complexities for the fans so they can see the foundation that is beginning to crack.”

The dream that Charles Xavier built – crumbles and what you knew about the X-Men changes here. It all begins in X-MEN: PRELUDE #1 (of 4)!

The Xmen isn't just another superhero concept. It is an exploration of bigotryand the idea of celebrating individuality.that is why it has endured as one of the most popular comic families of books. thisupcoming story will probably be about 40+members of a team not agreeing on how business gets done.

Why? Professor X is already gone. His dream is long since died. We all know this. If this story was any good it would be contained within the main book: Uncanny ( in case you forgot)

I really believe this is the rise of the personal moment of Cyclops, all orginials x-men already had their moments where his powers have increased, as I always say he's a mutant is prime time for him to have expressed its full potential.

Sigh. Can't we just let the X-Men be heroes? X-Men stories have become cliche - they are ALWAYS about to be destroyed, ALWAYS on the defense, ALWAYS on the brink of destruction, ALWAYS focusing on just staying alive. It's become monotonous and unimaginative. They are the only superhero group that doesn't actually do much superheroing. They don't have time with all the extinctions, viruses, and general genocide. These End-of-X-Men-Forever events have become a bad joke Marvel just won't stop telling. Let them be heroes for awhile.

The table has already been set for this story. A schism between the X-men has beenaddressed with the differences in philosophy between Cyclops and Prof X. The eventual reversal of the decimation shouldprovide the impetus.
