This week, to celebrate the Thor Blu-ray/DVD release on September 13 we’re shining the spotlight on the Thunderer’s brothers-in-arms, the wondrous Warriors Three! Witness their humble beginnings, their greatest and most valorous battles, and more in this week’s Unlimited Highlights!
An unspeakable evil has marred the indelible Over Sword of Asgard. Cracked, the blighted blade foreshadows the impending doom of the Norse pantheon and the world! To stop the nameless evil that scarred the sword’s peerless surface and prevent the end of days, Thor gathers the most worthy warriors of Asgard to his banner. It shouldn’t be a surprise that Hogun the Grim, Fandral the Dashing, and Volstagg the Voluminous answer the call to arms. Now sit back and bear witness to the first of many astounding adventures starring the Warriors Three!
The Tournament of Titans, the Odin-sponsored battle royal, calls all manner of challengers from the Nine Worlds and across the stars to do battle for the favor of the All-Father. Volstagg, Fandral, and Hogun, the ineffable and incorrigible Warriors Three, aim to win the tournament for the glory of Asgard, but the championship may not be so easily claimed by merely boasting of past glorious deeds. Something wicked walks the wondrous halls of the citadel; a gray goliath with power enough to shatter planets! Do the Warriors Three have what it takes to bring down the Destroyer?
When immortals err, they face their punishment at Thingvellir, the althing, a place of judgment for those who break Odin’s laws. Unbeknownst to our triumphant trio of Asgardian heroes, they unwittingly slew a giant and his father cries for vengeance. To placate the beast, preserve the truce with Jotunheim, and save the honor of the Aesir, the Warriors Three must bring the giant three apples, a spear, a pig skin, a sword, and three shouts. It may not sound like a tall order but when an immortal champion guards each of said items, the bawdy brawlers have their work cut out for them.
Thor broke the cycle of Ragnarok and freed his fellow Asgardians from their fate at the end of the world, yet they have disappeared, trapped within mortal forms. In Africa, the Odinson discovers three stout soldiers protecting the Umeme Mungu refugee camp. They fight with heart and valor against overwhelming odds and a spark of familiarity exists within each man. Could Rolf Mueller, Leo Kincaid, and Trevor Newly be his long lost brothers-in-arms?
The sky cracks with a cacophony of thunder and lightning as Ragnarok, the maniacal melding of Asgardian magic and mortal arrogance, bears down on the most portly member of the Warriors Three in the streets of Broxton, Oklahoma. Unwilling to endanger the good people of the quaint little town, Volstagg takes flight—something he regrets almost immediately. However, after putting sufficient distance between the cyborg imposter and the innocents, Volstagg turns to show his foe the true meaning of voluminous!
