Entangled by governmental red tape and trapped within a bureaucratic quagmire, the Avengers struggle to do what they do best. Henry Peter Gyrich shows up to make things worse: If Earth’s Mightiest Heroes want their priority status back they need to make some changes, and according to Gyrich they’ve got about two dozen too many members. The new Avengers team will be comprised of a new seven-member core selected by the U.S. government. Who will make the cut?
The team’s looking for all-new members yet again; more specifically, they want heroes who work well on a team, have technical knowledge of weaponry and courage, and Wasp wants more women to fill out the roster. While the guys go off in search of their ideal candidates, Jan invites some of her heroine friends over for lunch. With such high-caliber heroes hanging around, how will the team decide on just one or two? Will the mongering Mechano Marauder destroy the Avengers before they have a chance to pass the torch?
After a plethora of Avengers blunder a bank bust and the deadly Whirlwind escapes scot free, the team’s top dogs decide to thin the ranks a bit. They can’t catch criminals if they keep getting in each other’s way. With the assistance of their new government liaison Duane Freeman, the founders start narrowing down the count for a new, more efficient roster. But while the rest of the Avengers sit around the mansion waiting with bated breath for the new roster, Whirlwind’s still on the loose spinning up a storm of evil. Will Cap and the other core members choose a new team before the villain strikes again?
In a post-Civil War landscape without Captain America, Tony Stark decides that the world needs a new group of Avengers, so he and Carol Danvers, otherwise known as Ms. Marvel, set out to build one. A team needs balance; it needs a powerhouse and a heart; it needs a brain, an x-factor, and someone willing to do what the others won’t. Which heroes will make up Tony and Carol’s Mighty Avengers?
