This week, with the announcement of Avengers VS X-Men fresh on the minds of comics fans everywhere, we take a look back at five prior battles between Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and the Children of the Atom before they engage in all-out war!

Will unbreakable claws and Cap’s sturdy shield be enough to fell a 20-foot tall mechanical monster still steaming from a fresh coat of adamantium? And what’s Overrider’s endgame? Unless the two heroes figure it out quick, America, and the world, might be done for!
Charles Xavier needs help. He can no longer hold the Scarlet Witch’s reality-altering powers in check. He calls on her closest friends, the Avengers, and summons the defenders of mutant kind, his X-Men, to find a solution. Wolverine wants to put her down, but Captain America won’t even consider it. They decide to go to Genosha and try to talk to Wanda, but when they land the world changes—everything changes.
Rogue of X-Men fame got her flight, invulnerability and super strength from Carol Danvers in a fight that left Ms. Marvel’s psyche shattered. It took the blonde bombshell a long time to forgive the Southern belle, and while the two women won’t ever be friends, they can fight the good fight together if need be. It’s an entirely different story for a Carol from an alternate universe who wants Rogue dead and will stop at nothing until the she has breathed her last. Can the two heroines put aside their differences to take down this extra-dimensional adversary?
