Marvel Editor-In-Chief Joe Quesada was recently honored with an invitation to paint an original mural for The Palm, a landmark New York restaurant.
Renowned not only for its fine cuisine but also for original art works that adorn its walls, the Palm restaurant is home to drawings by such legends as Matt Groening, Carmine Infantino, and Dr. Seuss. Most recently The Palm asked Marvel Editor-In-Chief and artist extraordinaire Joe Quesada to paint a mural of Marvel's most famous characters in celebration of the restaurant's 80th anniversary.
"When I heard about the possibility of being able to do the project I jumped at the chance," said Quesada. "When I was just a kid, I remember my dad telling me all about The Palm and how all the world's greatest cartoonist were up on the wall. If you had a piece up in The Palm, well then you really made it! I just remember him making a big deal about it as we walked by the place one day."
The mural, which features Spider-Man, Wolverine, Hulk, Storm, Human Torch, and Captain America, took Quesada almost 50 hours over a week's time. And he did so while still upholding his duties as Editor-In-Chief of Marvel, leading to some late-nights and even all-nighters to get the mural completed.
