Every week, we'll tap one creator to browse Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited and pick some of their favorite work from the expansive catalog. This week: WOLVERINE: ORIGINS writer Daniel Way!
"I'd never written an annual before [WOLVERINE: ORIGINS ANNUAL #1], and no one told me that annuals are usually stand-alone issues that don't really impact the main title. Oops.
"That being said, this is an important issue because it's the first time Logan learns the name of the mysterious being who's been in control of the majority of his life: Romulus. It also features Wolverine's return the Madripoor, the city he used to haunt—and hunt—under his alias, 'Patch.'
"Working with Kaare [Andrews] and Shannon [Blanchard] was incredible. They're both incredible artists and the way they handled this entire issue—down to how they added the 'crinkle' effect to the edges of the flashback pages, something that I've not seen anywhere else—was masterful."
