By Tim Stevens Readers have thrilled to artist Marcos Martin's beautiful line work and unique designs for characters like Paper Doll and Screwball in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN since the start of "Brand New Day." With his brand new exclusive deal with Marvel, Martin ensures that the delights will keep coming. For his part, editor Steve Wacker could not be happier with the news. "It was important [to sign Martin exclusively] because Marcos kept talking about other stuff he was being asked to draw and I'm very selfish with his time. Marcos is like the prettiest girl at a dance I want him all to myself," says Wacker. "Truth is, Marcos' work on Spidey caught everyone's attention and suddenly every writer on the book was asking to use him, so it just made sense to make sure he didn't stray too far," the editor explains, amending his statement a bit more seriously. "His storytelling is so inventive and elegant, he just seems born for this gig."

It turns out that Martin is in demand throughout all of Marvel, not just in the Spider-Man offices. Thus, the next time fans can take in the artist's compelling style is not on AMAZING SPIDER-MAN at all. Wacker reveals, "He's doing a Timely Annual featuring Captain America written by the great James Robinson and colored by [Martin's] partner-in-crime Javier Rodriguez. It'll be out in April." Beyond that, though, Wacker is keeping the in-demand Martin close at hand. "Right now he's keeping busy in my office and I've convinced him that Marvel publishes no other comics but mine, so please don't mention anything to him." Check out the official Marvel Shop!
