WOLVERINE:
FIREBREAK

"When I was invited to pitch a stand-alone Wolverine story, I started off by thinking about the core of the character as I saw him, and what was so damn cool about him back in the day when Chris Claremont put him at the dead center of the X-verse. He's as badass as it's possible for a hero to be, of course; the best there is at what he does. But more than that, he's a character who's more dangerous the more badly stacked the odds are against him. If you've got Logan up to his neck in concrete at the bottom of a piranha-filled river with a brain parasite eating his conscious mind and a bomb in his underpants, just as you dust off your hands and head back to the car, that's when you're going to hear a little sniktfrom behind you, followed by the sound of distant choirs of angels. "So I set out to write a story in which Wolverine has as many handicaps piled on top of him as I could think of. He's blind, he's lost in the middle of a massive brushfire that could burn him down to the bone, and he's got to slow down to match the pace of a bunch of civilians who he takes under his wing. And that's when he runs across a cadre of HYDRA soldiers... "WOLVERINE: FIREBREAK. It's got Wolverine in it. Enjoy!" Check out WOLVERINE: FIREBREAK on Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited.
