WOLVERINE:
THE END

By Nesa Nourmohammadi He's gone up against Sabretooth, locked claws with Lady Deathstrike, and hunted Mystique across the Middle East. Yet of all his enemies, no nemesis has haunted Wolverine more than his own past. In the six-issue limited series WOLVERINE: THE END from writer Paul Jenkins and artist Claudio Castellini, the rabid Canuck's history gets deconstructed and depicted in ways we've never seen. At 210 years old, Logan lives a simple existence, derailed by arthritis and rusty adamantium. The death of his longtime foe, Victor "Sabretooth" Creed, sends him a journey of discovery and anguish, as new details about his life as James Howlett emerge. Along the way, he makes a new enemy: Kitsunebi, a Japanese demon whose revelations send Wolverine into a tailspin. Human interaction, sharp dialog and surprising plot twists fuel this tale as each chapter will leave you breathless for the next. Jenkins weaves together flashbacks and the present with fluidity and a steady pace. Castellini delivers, with his intricate pencil work and strong notice for detail. From the wrinkles on Logan's face, to the splatter of rain hitting the ground, everything looks alive and disturbingly realistic. The risk Jenkins and Castellini take by characterizing our hero as fragile pays off. Longtime and new fans will enjoy this fresh portrayal.
