This issue introduces Toro, the Flaming Torch Kid!  Toro used to be a circus fire breather until one day, he suddenly burst into flame! Unharmed by the blaze that engulfed his body the Human Torch took him in and taught him about his new-found powers.  The young firestarter and the android inferno became fast friends and set out to stop some crooks from destroying the circus Toro was once a part of.  Not only do you get the origin story of Toro, the Flaming Torch Kid in this issue but also tales of Prince Namor, the Sub-Mariner, The Falcon and The Flaming Mask.

In two stupendous tales Marvel's first mutant battles the dastardly troops of the Third Reich as Namor, the Sub-Mariner! First, the Nazis attempt an underwater blitzkrieg of Atlantis and take the submerged city completely by surprise. In the resulting onslaught the emperor is killed and Namor becomes the King of Atlantis, and also its avenging son. He and the Atlantean army retaliate against the Nazi U-Boats, but will they be able to defeat their undersea attackers before Atlantis falls? In the second story, the Sub-Mariner discovers that his people have contracted a deadly sickness and that the only cure for the disease is Radium, but the precious cure is rare at the bottom of the ocean.  Will Namor be able to find a new source of Radium before the Atlanteans succumb to their terrible malady?  Read on true believers!

The idea of a trip through the Golden Age in preparation for the upcoming Marvels Project is a great idea. The insertion of The Twelve #1 is a little frustrating since it simply reminds us that we've not seen issues 9 to 12 to date and we don't have any idea as to when this series will be completed. Sheesh! :juggernaut:
