Ever wanted to play the role of Luke Cage and pick which super villain has what it takes to earn a spot on the Thunderbolts? Here’s your chance!

THUNDERBOLTS writer Jeff Parker has begun preliminary evaluations on who should join the T-Bolts and he wants your help.

"Somehow we've gotten the idea that you readers have opinions on who would make a good Thunderbolt,” he says. “Remember a villain you want back in the spotlight? Then hit me! We're planning out next year and 2011 could have a lot more of your favorite heavy in it."

Below, you’ll find a poll currently populated with 13 prime candidates for the roster as well as a spot for your own write-in choice; simply select the not-so-nice guy or girl you find most deserving or intriguing, or come up with your pick—we’re flexible! Jeff will weigh your input, take all opinions under consideration, and make the best decision for the team.

So get down to business, vote, and keep checking back right here on Marvel.com for updates as well as thoughts from Mr. Parker himself.

And remember: The future of the Thunderbolts could well rest in your hands!

Why not have Imperfect characters like Brigade or Hazmat on the Thunderbolts?

I would like to see this as a chance to get more black characters in the MU out there. For some reason there are only white names on the list, but there are always write ins. I would love to see Thunderball or even Nightshade on the team. Both characters would add a science angle and good foils for Luke.

Since Juggernaut's already there I wouldn't want much more of Spiderman's other foes in the lineup.

Shocker or Mimic would be great new teammates .

Here's an idea, why not make a storyline about the people before they take on the identity, like Black Spectre. Because the previous guy is dead, why not make someone new or old to take the mantle. It could be a former supervillain we've never seen for a long time, or somebody new. The reason I picked Black Spectre is that he is a brutal and grittier fighter and I think the teams needs one because it already has tech peoples and power lots. Either him or Batroc, which I don't mind. Another I'm thinking of is Morgan le Fay. This is mearly optional. The Shocker is my hopeful choice, including Sandman. Also Scarecrow is an interesting choice.

I voted for Dark X-Men Mimic!Seeing fight or team up with Juggernaut would be awesome!

Of that group, Batroc jumps out at me (pardon the pun) as filling a whole in the group, they lack a close combat/martial artist type. Plenty of power with Cage and Juugernaut (making Sandman Hyde and the like redundant), plenty of tech/smarts, pretty good firepower, etc...but not really the nitty gritty fighter type that Batroc represents.

I think mystique would be a fun candidate as well. She is manipulative that you never know her ture intentions. Plus, she gets the job done.I think Sandman is also a character who has a lot of potential with the team.

WakandaMan

Interesting poll! I think Absorbing Man, Sandman and Madame Masque have a lot of potential, as all three have shown the potential to reform in the past and are fairly recognizable villains. For other choices, Constrictor and Taskmaster have both been on the path toward redemption in recent times and would fit in well. From the rest of the list, Batroc could be fun, but the others don't excite me. Dark Beast would make the team too X-related, since Juggy's already in there.

UncannyLos
UncannyLos

Sandman, Absorbing Man and Living Laser have the best power sets but I don't see how they can keep them in line at all. Dark Beast would be cool as hell as the team right now lacks any evil mutants. Since Dark Beast is one of the the smartest people in the world, I would find it interesting how he would be caught and then also what he could add with his genius. If I could choose one person of my own, I would go with either Mystique or X-man.

I think the Purple man would be perfect to create a group dynamic tension thing with his past with Luke Cage...

Archangel maybe, I could picture him flying on the right side of the Thunderbolts cover. Perhaps even Mister Sinister would be a good addition.

i totally agree with imaninjaandimwasted The Sandman would be perfect for the job i mean look at his story he can easily play both sides of the field and lots of people sleep on his abilities.

Vaughnilla

Batroc the Leaper will bring a more mature look to the team and a darker tone. Why because Batroc has history with America's new top cop Steve Rogers.

Whoa slow down yeah deadpool deserves the props but last time i checked Wade had his turn why not give Eddie Brock a chance HUH!!!!! He was completely evil...Just a thought..... OH or how about Crossbones that'd be ironic

Deadpool needs to be more appreciated? No way, he was in every comic half-year ago. The Sandman would be perfect, we can see a classic villain becoming a good guy... well, sort of.

Abomination and Doctor Doom can use a spotlight. They would also make the Thunderbolts like darker Avengers again.

Blackout! The T-Bolts don't have that cold blooded murderer element that bullseye and venom brought to the table that makes them so cool

b-wing

Anti-Venom needs another chance to appear in Marvel comics again. He may not neccessarily be a villian, but I definitely think he would make an interesting addition to the Thunderbolts

i dont care who`s the next thunderbolt but please!!! let luke cage grow some hair and get rid of that goatie enough of the Luke Cage with the wayans brother gimmick!!

Out of all these characters, Dark Beast trumps every single one when it comes to dialogue. Period.

I'm not sure if it would make the Thunderbolts too Brotherhood-like, with the Juggernaut there as well, but I think Toad would be a good addition to the team. Toad offers the chance for a little bit of comedic humor in a serious cast, as well as a unique take on the redemption aspect of the group.

Let's be honest, we all need more MODAM in our lives. She was never confirmed as dead and she could be super dun. Where has she been all this time? What's her end game? How about some Paperdoll? She's crazy as hell and what happens when she becomes obsessed with one of the team members or even worse, an enemy.

revington

Sandman! He actually wants to have redemption at times. Lets have a team member who wants to be redeemed but is led astray, instead of all these team mambers who don't wanna change and accidently do good on occasion.

Don't forget the Dark Reign. Utopia. Fraction made himself into a legend with those books.

Dark Beast is the absolute best option. The Thunderbolts don't have a scientist, or a true evil player, or someone who's power is agility based. The banter between dark Hank McCoy and any authoritative figure leaves plenty of elbow room for a writer to let loose. Plus, we've already seen Xavier in this run of the book. Wonder what he'd think about when his step-brother (who he's trying to forgive/redeem)is being influenced by someone who basically mocks one of his beloved X-men? There is just way too much great writing to be done for dark Beast. All the other candidates are fodder in my opinion. Yes, I like Shocker, but he basically would be another dumb trigger. He reminds me of Crossbones...a lot.

Woo shocker. Also, get Crossbones back on the team. I only started collecting Thunderbolts because Crossbones and Juggernaut had joined.

Madam Masque all the way.Marvel needs to invest more in making low to mid level characters accessible and recognizable properties, otherwise it'll be Doom vs FF all day everyday forever. 1) Madam Masque grew incredibly as a character through the work of Bendis in New Avengers, and Fraction in Iron Man. They should build on this momentum.2) Another woman on the team means more catiness, more sexual tension, and better weighting of a female perspective. There's opportunity for compelling, provocative, and humourous dialogue, through her inclusion. She's messed-up in all sorts of ways that would play well off of someone as manipulative as Moonstone.3) Cage's success in rehabilitating cons doesn't equal a successful book. If anything it make it a harder sell. Someone like Sandman has always been a sympathetic character. He'd rather be good, but crime is easier to get into and harder to get out of. Madam Masque has virtually no moral compass, she's motivated by baser things. and that's harder to control.Having a team pull together while on the verge of tearing each other apart is interesting. What happens when Luke fails and it all goes to hell? How will he be affected considering he's the type that cannot accept defeat? He's on the top of his game, never been more popular as a character. What kind of man will he become? How will that affect his marriage, and the Avengers?Taking Luke Cage down a notch would also boosts his profile as a Marvel character. Again, a good investment for Marvel; building on momentum.

Shocker would be an excellent choice...he was always a mediocre villain, maybe he decided to turn a hero and see if it will work.

Well... my first pick would be Sandman, but I though Dan Slott would have other plans for him in Amazing Spider-Man. It looks like Shocker might win, but I'll vote for ol' Sandy anyway. So, if Sandman just can't happen, consider my vote for Shocker. Otherwise, Sandman!
