Marvel is proud to reveal superstar J. Scott Campbell's cover to WOLVERINE #1, part of Marvel's latest Comics For Comics initiative. The extremely limited edition WOLVERINE #1 DEADPOOL VARIANT will be made available to retailers who return the covers of select Marvel comics.

"We've received positive reactions from the retailer community, but also found many retailers saying they simply don't have copies of those books to return," explained David Gabriel, Marvel Senior Vice President of Publishing, Sales and Circulation. "After reviewing retailer feedback, we decided to expand the program to include more titles and allow more retailers to participate. The WOLVERINE #1 DEADPOOL VARIANT already has fans buzzing, so we'd like for every retailer to reap the rewards."

Retailers - for every 50 stripped covers of the following comics from Group One sent to Marvel, you will qualify to receive one FREE WOLVERINE #1 DEADPOOL VARIANT. The 50 stripped covers can be any combination of the comics listed in that group and all submissions need to be received at the Marvel office at the address below by Friday 8/6/2010. Also included with the stripped covers must be your store contact information including Diamond Account # and email address. With boxes of covers arriving every day, Marvel urges retailers to get theirs in by the due date to guarantee themselves copies of this stunning variant.

For Group Two - Marvel will be accepting either 50 stripped covers of one of the titles listed in this group, or a combination of 25 of one title and 25 of another. Marvel will not be accepting any other quantity adding up to 50. For example, Marvel would accept 50 stripped covers of CABLE #24 but not 30 stripped covers of CABLE #24 and 20 stripped covers of DOOMWAR #2. Additionally, Marvel would also accept 25 stripped covers of CABLE #24 and 25 stripped covers of DOOMWAR #2 to qualify for one WOLVERINE #1 DEADPOOL VARIANT.

Retailers with any questions about Marvel's Comics for Comics program, should e-mail helpme@marvel.com for further assistance.

Please note: No second printings, third printings, variants, are accepted as part of this promotion.

They do this to help drive up the sales of the inevitable Graphic Novels to come. Everyone knows it'll be easier to find and X-Men: Second Coming in the form of Graphic Novels than it would to if you have tons of issues floating around. Marvel doing things like this to prevent newer comic books from ending up in 50 cent bins. It's about keeping the local comic book shop afloat while keeping Marvel profits up the real question is Will we see Marvel/Disney stores start popping up and will they have New Comics and New Graphic Novels, I sure this is the concern of many comic shop owners.

Three things: 1. Wolverine looks awesome in a Deadpool costume. 2. To get even one of these covers, comic book stores will have to either work together or buy back issues from consumers. 3. It may seem outrageous, but at least it's in better taste than their last Deadpool varient promotion. It's a step in the right direction.

I just really don't get the thinking behind these "stripped cover" deals. The stores actually have to rip the cover off and end it in? What does Marvel get out of this? The knowledge that a particular retailer is ordering yay many books? Clearly the retailer could just send in their diamond shipping invoices.Marvel clearly isn't interested in reselling the books, so it can't be that.If they were rare or landmark books they could be trying to drive up their value, but clearly that can't be it (Doom War/Pixie Strikes Back etc.)They can't be archiving them either cause a) it's just the cover and b) this isn't 50 years ago when managing to keep a copy was difficult.I'll ask my shops if they need any of the crappy titles I can stand to part with to help 'em out but what gives?

who the heck has 50 of any of those books left over??? some initiative where MOST comic book stores CAN'T particiapte. And yes the fans are buzzing about the cover, but they can give their hopes up and shatter their dreams of ever getting one. not to mention the book store will onely get ONE book per 50!!!! thanks for nothing.
