By Paul Montgomery

Together they sundered the heavens, and this February, Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic reunite to lay waste to the earthly realm of Midgard.

It all starts with THOR GOD OF THUNDER #19.NOW, the first in a five part saga. As with “The God Butcher” and “Godbomb,” the coming threat demands the divine intervention of more than one Odinson in an adventure spanning thousands of years.

“We see Thor fighting to save the Earth on two different fronts,” says Aaron. “In the present, he's working with S.H.I.E.L.D. to take on the all-new ROXXON, the world's biggest and more nefarious energy corporation.”

But, that’s only half of it.

“In the far future, King Thor runs up against a very old and very hungry Galactus,” Aaron continues.

Previously introduced in the “God Butcher” arc as the one-eyed, one-armed scion of Asgard, Thor’s future self hinted that the battle with Gorr might not be their last collaboration. Appropriately enough, the modern and elder Thors reunite just as Esad Ribic returns to render the “Last Days of Midgard” with his signature majesty.

“Of course it's great to be working with Esad again,” says Aaron. “And I think this arc will allow him to cut loose in ways that will prove very different from our first big ‘God Butcher’ arc. This is very much an earth-bound story, but it's still filled with the sort of epic-ness that a Thor tale demands. So there are submarines and flying cars and floating islands and did I mention Old Galactus? There's also a brand new villain, who's the ruthless new CEO of ROXXON. And eventually, one of my favorite old-school Thor villains will pop up as well.”

“Let’s not forget S.H.I.E.L.D.’s newest and brightest, environmental scientist Roz Solomon!” adds editor Lauren Sankovitch. “A gutsy lady who’ll give our God of Thunder a whole new perspective on his beloved Midgard.”

What ties it all together, across the generations, from the stars above to Wall Street below?

“Epic epic-ness,” promises Sankovitch. “Always!”
