      this is a mistake.

Peter Parker has been nothing but a victim to any and every writer assigned to his book, having to endure every real world problem that could be thought up over the years on top of the standard superhero problems, and often failing to keep both lives from colliding in the worst possible way.  friends terrorized, loved ones killed, his best friend becoming his worst enemy... the list goes on.  i may not have liked "One More Day", but i will still fight anyone who thinks it's out of character; if ANYONE in the Marvel roster would make a deal with the devil, it WOULD be Peter Parker.  and then, after 700 issues and about 50 years of being thrown around every circle of Hell, the writers finally showed Peter mercy by killing him off (in the least dignified manner possible)

      and replacing him.

...and now, they're bringing him back?!  NO!!  WHY?!  i am convinced that Marvel must really hate their own mascot.  the writers are all sadistic, blood-thirsty monsters, and so are all of you fans who are celebrating his "triumphant" return.  if you truly love Peter Parker, you will let him rest in peace.

Been collecting since Amazing 296...glad to have my Spidey back! I only bought 1 issue of Superior b/c it was an Age of Ultron event...bad guys should only win like this in the movies, not in something I "really" care about/collect.

Did anyone REALLY think Octavius was going to remain as Superior Spider Man for long? Especially with the next movie coming out?

You've GOT to be kidding me. Not really surprised by this given the fanboys reaction to Parker being "killed" off, but still ...

Look, I understand no one REALLY dies in comics, by this is asinine. Superior Spider-man is a great book, dark and edgy and has been a lot of fun reading. I realize Parker and Octavius are two different people, but if ASM replaces SSM (and I don't see how the two can co-exist given how different the character is), the writers just CAN'T go back to Parker being a whimp.

had a plan? please, more like people complained so much that marvel had to force him to revive peter in time for the movies or movie sales were going to plummet, anyone who saw slotts constant bitching to fans in the last year will know that he had NO plans to bring him back whatsoever, they're totally just trying to save face by saying he did

I'm excited and upset. Superior Spider-man is a fun title and the adventure of Doc Oct in Peter's body was always interesting but I miss Peter too.

Personally, I like Superior Spider Man. The story line has stayed fresh, relevant and extremely dark. I admit I was a hater in the beginning but I was quickly won over. If they do end the SSM story line, I'll be sad to see it go. I just never realized how much Peter Parker bored me. Sorryboutit.

When I found out they were making Superior Spiderman I wasn't very excited. Then I saw this article and I was really happy! SPIDEY IS BACK!

What if Marvel keeps both the Superior and Amazing books? Say Doc Ock is kicked out of the original body, but keeps a clone that he puts his mind in. Now we have two Spider-men running around!

Hasn't every story that could be written about Peter Parker already been written? Superior Spider-Man was a great change and surely has more potential than a 50 year old character.

Gave Superior Spider-Man a shot but wasn't too thrilled and decided to not renew my subscription. But this news has got me excited again! Now how soon can I subcribe to this All-New Marvel NOW Amazing Spider-Man or do I have to subscribe to Superior Spider-Man again as it reverts back to Amazing Spider-Man..?

Finally! At last! The real Peter Parker will be back! Honestly, I suspected they would bring him back in time for the new movie. I really have had enough of that abomination of Superior Spider-Ock. I only read some of it in order to see to what lengths of creepiness they would go and it was terrible, really terrible. A sacrilege to 50 years of Spider-Man. Though effective, Superior Spider-Ock is too violent for my taste and I may add to that villainly arrogant, very, very arrogant. I also hope Peter would go back to Mary-Jane Watson and stop dating midgets. I don't have anything with little people but seeing Peter date a woman that is a whole foot (or more) shorter than him was a bit silly.

Doc Ock as Peter Parker is insane!!! its the greatest storyline!!!  spidey with the mind of a villian!! Superior Spider-Man is and will be Legen wait-for-it dary!!!! but i mean i wanted to see was sure there would be Superior Spider-Man #100

I never liked Spider-man, thought he was a whiny pansy. I picked up Superior Spider-man for the Darkest hour story arc for Venom and I became instantly hooked. The Doc Ock Spider-man is way more interesting and a bad-ass! I put Superior on my pull-list and bought all the back issues. Then its going to all end in April......

@brytdavis pot meet kettle, kettle meet pot, fact is, aside from all the controversy and boiling it down to brass tax, inferior spiderman (whoops freudian slip) was just a terrible story, full of holes, doing things for pure shock value, and dumbing down pretty much every character so he could continue to parade around in parkers body, for example: JJJ: this is a man whose hated spider-man after witnessing him personally save his family and the city more times than he could count, are we really expected to believe that he would flip COMPLETELY after ock recovered something as miniscule as a few pieces of lab equipment? and MJ, this is one of the plotholes that i found more ridiculous, are we really expected to believe that someone he's only known a month or two can tell somethings up where someone who's been his girlfriend and WIFE for over a DECADE can't tell he's any different? i mean come on, if that's not trying to weed out a character i don't know what is

      tempos

@Nova101210 that wouldn't work unless they completely isolated spider-ock from the rest of the community, the continuity issues alone would be staggering (and by continuity i mean confusion over which spider did what when, continuity just seemed like a better word)

@john16o Heck superman is older than that and they keep making storylines for him.

@tempos@brytdavisFor me, the issue is that Spider-man as a character got a whole lot more fun with the SSM title. Already with ASM #700.1+ (really?!? 700.x?!? yeesh), I'm falling asleep because Parker is just boring. I understand the canon of the Spider-man character and the SM universe (I've been reading Spidey for over 30 years), but, while I was skeptical initially about the direction SSM was going in (the idea of Doc Oc transferring himself into SM made me laugh at first), I've really enjoyed the book. Here's hoping Marvel keeps SSM and AMS on the shelf at the same time ... they seem to be experts in milking characters for all they're worth and having parallel/alternative universes (read: the ridiculous number of X-men titles out there now).

In the end, if fans of ASM-era Spidey and SSM-Spidey are happy, then who really loses, right? Just my $0.02 ...

@tempos @Nova101210 i could still work, imagine doc ock in peter's cloned body but instead of returning to "the superior spiderman" he could become an upgraded doc ock
