“Understand this—in all of space and for all of time—I am the Superior Spider-Man!”

In the pages of SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #31, Otto Octavius sacrificed his consciousness, surrendering the body and mantel of Spider-Man to Peter Parker. Otto’s tenure as New York’s web slinging wonder ended, and so too did his life.

For now.

This August and September, Dan Slott, Christos Gage, Giuseppe Camuncoli and Adam Kubert shake up the chronotons and offer a glimpse at an untold tale of the wall-crawler at his most superior with SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN issues #32 and #33.

You may have thought Otto Octavius out of time, but has his story truly ended?

“Obviously there's more to it,” says co-writer Gage. “There’s time travel involved. Sharp-eyed readers will remember a period in SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #19 when Otto vanished in a flash of temporal energy. Now we'll find out where he went, and what happened.”

Indeed, Octavius blinked out of that juncture of 2013—along with all of Horizon Labs—for some nine hours, only to be plucked back to the present, battered and fuming, by a team of fellow scientists. Octavius seemed especially furious, but all memory of the events of his quantum leap faded in an instant.

“Is this an untold chapter of the past, a tale of the future, or both?” Gages teases.

“SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #32 kicks off the edge of Spider-Verse,” explains editor Nick Lowe. “The road to the biggest Spider-Event of all time begins here. SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN finds himself in 2099, finally a time where science and intellectual advancement is at least closer to his genius. He needs to find his way home, but things get a little more complicated than that.”

Even in this brave new world, Otto must still contend with past sins and the ever-looming shadow of his greatest rival.

“Superior Spider-Man comes face to face with a Peter Parker Spider-Man.” says Gage. “A very different one from the one we know.”

With two epic chapters drawn by Camuncoli and Kubert respectively, SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #32-33 proves there’s no half-life for superiority, and that the legacy of Otto Octavius lives on somewhere, sometime.

Begin the epic swing to Spider-Verse this August with SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #32

Marvel hurt my Wallet when Scarlet Spider, Venom Vol. 2 with Flash, and this series Superior Spider-man was ongoing.  I was even purchasing the new Thunderbolts because of Flash.  Don't go digital it is too easy.  I am looking forward to the return.  I wish Superior Spider-Man didn't end.  I would love to see a Vol. 2.

Finally! I've been waiting to see what happened to Otto when he disappeared out of time! I'm thinking this may lead into a Superior Spider-man Vol 2 (hopefully with Otto not in Peter's body)

It will be cool for Otto Octavius as Superior Spider-Man to meet Peter Parker as Spider-Man from a different timeline.

Superior-Spider-Man #1-29 was so good that I can forgive Dan Slott's heartbreakingly rushed and plothole-filled 30 & 31. I couldn't bear to join in on the new Amazing Spider-Man because of the sheer volume and depth of those story issues, but with Slott no longer on a deadline to end the series for a movie tie-in, I'll gladly give him another chance with 32 and 33.

Please, please make this an on-going story.  I would buy this comic monthly.

I felt that Otto Octavius as Spider-Man was just as awesome as Peter Parker and I was annoyed when it looked like they killed him off. I can't wait for Otto's return and I can't wasit for Spider-Verse.

Are these just two issues or is it the return of the ongoing series?

@sinanberk  I think the article made it pretty obvious that the new issues of The Superior Spider-Man will be direct tie-ins to Spider-Verse.

@MARVEL@ddict  I really hope they bring The Superior Spider-Man back as an ongoing series. That would be freakin' awesome!

@MARVEL@ddict Based on the description, it seems like just these two issues to explain what happened in that brief time-gap, but there is a (probably high) possibility this can be a backdoor way to have Otto "survive". Maybe he plugs his consciousness into something in the future or something?

@Ultrawolf @MARVEL@ddict  Superior Spider-Man 2211 has a nice ring to it.  The extra arms would be something Ock would be able to adjust to very easily and he may encounter the character in the Spider-Verse story.  Also, if there is one Spidey in serious need of a design refresh, 2211 has got to be it.
