Back to Work

Go Back To Work With Hulk - A Scientist, A Spy...A Gangster?

Bruce Banner has one of the most diverse resumes in the Marvel Universe!

It's Monday, and that means that you've had to find the strength to shake off the after effects of a weekend well spent just to get back into shape for the weekday work-athon. It's tough, sure, but it's a fact of life – one that isn't lost on super humans either. Yep, Mondays mean back to work for super heroes too, as they trade in their uniforms for something more business casual.

Holding down a steady job of any kind can sometimes be a herculean task, but just imagine trying to do so while trying to keep your stress levels from turning you into a raging green monster. Let's just say that customer service jobs and Bruce Banner probably don't belong together. With the threat of hulking out constantly looming over him, Dr. Banner has spent more time on the run than behind a desk, meaning that the handful of entries on his resume tell quite an interesting story.

Dr. Banner debuted as a professional scientist working alongside the United States military. Together they sought to test his breakthroughs in gamma radiation research, but those tests – and his scientific career – came to an abrupt end once Banner himself got caught in the gamma bomb's blast radius. From that point on, the doctor traded in his lab coat for a green hide.

After a number of evolutions to his powerset, Banner found himself permanently shut out of control of his body. Instead, a new, smarter, gray version of the Hulk had taken over and found himself a new job. Now going by the name "Joe Fixit," the gray Hulk worked as a bouncer, enforcer, and all around tough guy at a Las Vegas casino. This worked out perfectly since he had the brawn, and his employers didn't need his brains.

Most recently, Banner found himself employed by S.H.I.E.L.D. in an effort to put both halves of his dual identity to work. Faced with a legacy of death and destruction, Banner decided to put his intellect to work creating innovative technology and scientific breakthroughs in a fully S.H.I.E.L.D. funded laboratory. And as soon as Banner started feeling a bit green, he'd simply Hulk out at a target of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s choosing – thus allowing his rampaging alter-ego to do some good by smashing Earth's biggest threats.

Check out the next phase of Bruce Banner's life in HULK #1, on sale this Wednesday!
