Comic Heroes and Joss Whedon's Grokking:

The first Avengers movie was an epiphany of comic art and storytelling miraculously embodied into imaginative fantasy fiction film entertainment. Great film. Awesome scope, effectively tight direction for telling such an involved plot. But none of the main threads were dropped and the loom on which these strings became a tapestry is the mightiest loom of all in the person of Joss Whedon. I actually wept at how well Mr. Whedon nailed it in this movie, not unlike a similar moment in the final "Buffy" TV series epsode. Joss Whedon is the Storyteller Laureate of my baby-boomer comic book American dream generation. A life of wanting to have the honor and integrity of Captain America, the might and noble heart of Thor, or at least the "Anger Strength" of the Hulk when I needed it, feels honorable again, of course to be used to help others. Time passes, the inner child plays as the outer man ages, and I understand my archetypal heroes in more hot-blooded human ways, full of faults and mixed motives but still lovable. Still heroes. Thank you for understanding our American Baby-Boom generation's dreams and memories, validating the marvelous story, and retelling it so well.                          I kneel and offer you service, my liege.
