Back to Work

Blast Off And Go Back To Work With Nova

Witness Rich Rider and Sam Alexander power through hectic first days on the job!

It's Monday, and that means that you've had to find the strength to shake off the after effects of a weekend well spent just to get back into shape for the weekday work-athon. It's tough, sure, but it's a fact of life – one that isn't lost on super humans either. Yep, Mondays mean back to work for super heroes too, as they trade in their uniforms for something more business casual.

Sometimes a career path just chooses you. That's definitely the case for a couple of Nova Corps Centurions. Neither Rich Rider nor Sam Alexander chose to receive the abilities to turn into human rockets, and they definitely did not sign on to become space cops. Both of these normal guys had their lives turned upside down, and they've endured some intense adventures as a result of possessing the Nova Force.

Richard Rider became the last of the Nova Corps Centurions when Corpsman Rhomann Dey used his final moments to hire the Long Island high school student. Rider had to adjust to his new cosmic powerset quickly in order to protect Earth from the invading Zorr the Conqueror. Rich gained some co-workers a few years later in FANTASTIC FOUR #205 when the Nova Corps teamed up with Marvel's first family to fight the Skrulls.

The Nova Corps suffered another harrowing defeat when the Annihilation Wave rolled through their corner of the universe. Once again, Rich Rider remained the sole surviving Centurion—and this time he happened to escape death's clutches with the all-knowing Xandarian Worldmind shoved in his noggin. The Worldmind juiced Rider up with the entirety of the Nova Force, turning him into possibly the most powerful Centurion to ever exist.

There's a new Nova in town, and his name's Sam Alexander. Like Richard Rider before him, Sam's another high school kid who stumbled into possessing the power of a Nova Corpsman. Now Alexander kicks up Arizona dust as he takes to the skies to protect Earth from threats like the Phoenix Force and the Chitauri. It's too bad Sam can't turn to his predecessor for any advice on handling his workload, because Rider's been presumed dead for years.

You will learn the truth about Richard Rider's fate when Original Sin comes to GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY!

The Nova book after Annihilation is still my favorite book of all time.  Rich Ryder forever!!!!!!

Oh how I miss Richard Rider...bring him back!  They are pretty different, I cannot see how it would be a "lose" situation.
