Sgt. Major Jayme
Winders Wins a
Brand New Car!
Sergeant Major Jayme Winders, the recipient of a bronze star from his last tour of duty in Iraq, won a one-of-a-kind collectible Honda Element wrapped in a CAPTAIN AMERICA custom design by Marvel and donated to the San Diego Blood Bank by the Easy Going Honda Dealers of San Diego County. The car was on display at Comic-Con International this past weekend where comic fans were invited to enter a drawing for the unique vehicle.
"It's so apropos that a real Captain America-like hero won the car," said Rick Blakemore, Past President of Honda Dealers of San Diego County and General Manager of Hoehn Honda. "We are excited to see someone so deserving receive this special gift."
A San Diegan and regular blood donor, Sergeant Major Winders accepted the vehicle at a ceremony at the San Diego Blood Bank, 440 Upas St., on Friday, August 1, at 11 a.m., when Rick Blakemore of the Honda Dealers handed over the keys to the Honda. At 10:30 a.m. the same day, San Diego County Board of Supervisors Chair Greg Cox re-dedicated a newly refurbished bloodmobile. Recently his district granted $10,000 to the San Diego Blood Bank for this purpose. Funds raised by the drawing for the Honda also go toward the refurbishment of another bloodmobile.
The creation of this "Captain America" Honda Element collectible was made possible through generous donations by the Honda Dealers of San Diego County, who donated the Element; Marvel, who donated the CAPTAIN AMERICA artwork, Stan Lee who autographed the car and DF Graphics who wrapped it.
