Every week, we'll tap one creator to browse Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited and pick some of their favorite work from the expansive catalog. This week: X-MEN: WORLDS APART writer Christopher Yost:
"I started reading [UNCANNY X-MEN] at about issue #184, so really only knew Storm de-powered. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why she was on the team, much less leading it. And then [issue #201] happened. [Writer Chris] Claremont showed that even without her powers, Storm was more than capable of leading the X-Men, and at that point in time, better suited for it than Cyclops. He was a man pulled in two different directions, and Storm helped him see that...by kicking his butt.
"Storm is smart, capable, trained in combat by some of the best fighters in the world - and Cyclops completely underestimated her; although he was an emotional mess."
"That moment comes back to haunt Storm in [X-MEN: WORLDS APART #1], where she finds herself torn between two worlds. It's interesting to see how each former leader of the X-Men, Cyclops and Storm, deal with the situation. In the case of Storm, there's a lot more riding on the choice between worlds than with the situation in #201. For Storm, it's going to be the life and death of everyone she holds dear."
