Every week, we'll tap one creator to browse Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited and pick some of their favorite work from the expansive catalog. This week: X-INFERNUS wirter C.B. Cebulski looks back at his participation in the LEGION OF MONSTERS series!
"This story [from LEGION OF MONSTERS: MORBIUS] for me represents what in my mind is the spirit of old school Marvel creative collaborations, where the writer and artist were equal partners in the creation of a comic book. Some of my favorite classic Marvel comics were done when the writer and artist were clearly working in synch to make their magic together as a team. And that's what David Finch and I did here.
"Once we hit on telling the tale of Lilith, Dracula's daughter, we pretty much built the story as partners from the ground up. I remember sitting in Chili's at Dallas Airport and hashing out ideas with David and his wife, Meredith. We bounced beats and moments off each other and created the outline for what you now see there on these pages. After I went off and wrote the script, David, who pretty much already knew exactly what to expect and knew I included what he wanted to draw, took that script and used it as a road map to pencil the adventures of Dracula and Lilith across these beautiful pages. And he really kicked ass, wouldn't you say?!
"It was great to play with these classic Marvel horror characters, and even sweeter to be able to do it with an artist I share such a wonderful creative kinship with. That will always be my fondest memory of this story."
