Every week we'll pick a handful of awesome comics from the thousands available through Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited. From creator spotlights, to editor's picks and more, this'll be your spot to find something new and cool.

With Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited launching this week, we're throwing down five books that you have to read before anything else!

Fantastic Four #1

There's a reason FANTASTIC FOUR has been dubbed "The World's Greatest Comic Magazine." Actually, there are several hundred reasons, but it all begins with this issue. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby kicked off more than 100 issues of unadulterated awesomeness—not to mention the advent of the Marvel Universe we know and love—with this gem from 1961. Introducing Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Girl, the Human Torch and the Thing to the world, this is one classic every Marvel fan must read.

Giant Size X-Men #1

Another Stan and Jack creation, the X-Men had a decent run through the '60s, tapping into social issues and carving out a cool niche in the Marvel pantheon. But interest waned for a bit, sending the book into several years of reprints. Flash forward to 1975 when Len Wein and Dave Cockrum tore the roof off this sucker, introducing a horde of new X-Men and pushing the troubled series into the upper echelon of Marvel's finest. "From the ashes of the past, there grow the fires of the future!"

Daredevil #191

Frank Miller ended his now-legendary first run as writer/artist on DAREDEVIL with this historic issue, in which the Man Without Fear visits his paralyzed archenemy Bullseye in the hospital for a deadly game of Russian Roulette. As Matt Murdock bares his soul to the man he hates more than any other, Miller strips away the layers of one of Marvel's most complex characters and leaves an unforgettable mark on Marvel in the process.

Ultimate
Spider-Man #1

Writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Mark Bagley reinvented Peter Parker and his world for a new generation in ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN, and the saga begins here! Meet Peter, his kind Aunt May and Uncle Ben, the sinister Norman Osborn, and, of course, Peter's dream girl Mary Jane Watson. Read firsthand why a brush with an irridated spider puts the shy teenager on the road to great power and even greater responsibility.

New Avengers #1

After destroying Earth's Mightiest Heroes during "Avengers Disassembled," Brian Michael Bendis and artist David Finch launched a new era for the Marvel Universe's premiere team in NEW AVENGERS. When a massive prison break occurs at the Raft, Captain America and Iron Man have no Avengers to turn to and must rely on unfamiliar faces: Spider-Man, Luke Cage, Spider-Woman and the Sentry. The first faint seeds of 2008's Marvel mega-event "Secret Invasion" began here, so get caught up!
