 Unlimited Highlights: Marvel Magic
Posted: 2007-12-12 Updated: 2007-12-13 09:09:45 Do you believe in magic? Well, Marvel's hoping you do, but if you don't, the MYSTIC ARCANA collection, in stores this week, should change your tune. Still looking for the strings? Boy, you're impossible, but ok—here're five classic tales of drooling demons and wicked wizards currently available on Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited to make a believer out of you.
DOCTOR STRANGE #169
When it comes to the spooky, supernatural corner of the Marvel Universe, Doctor Strange remains our go-to guy. While the future Sorcerer Supreme's origin had already become the stuff of legend by the time of his first solo series, writer Roy Thomas and artist Dan Adkins put a fresh coat of polish on Stephen Strange's transition to the Master of the Mystic Arts in this Silver Age classic.
X-MEN #96
In one of the first adventures of Wolverine, Storm, Nightcrawler and the rest of the then "new" X-Men, the legendary creative team of writer Chris Claremont and artist Dave Cockrum pit the mighty mutants against the mystic might of the demonic N'Garai for the very first time. What happens when the Children of the Atom come heads to horns with Kierrok the Damned? Read on and find out!
DAREDEVIL #263
The Man Without Fear jumps headlong into the mystic madness of "Inferno" courtesy of writer Ann Nocenti and artist John Romita Jr. as demons have overrun New York City and the life of a young boy rests in Dardevil's hands. It's up to DD to fend off the evil of the monsters who have invaded his city as well as the city itself to protect the innocent.
SPELLBINDERS #1
Future superstars writer Mike Carey (X-MEN) and artist Mike Perkins (HOUSE OF M: AVENGERS) team up to tell a tale of teenage trauma and witchcraft in this first issue of this six-issue mini-series. High school student Kim Vesco moves to Salem, Massachusetts and immediately finds herself thrown into a centuries-old feud between witches and the mundane that will reveal power she never knew she had.
DR. STRANGE: THE OATH #1
Coming full circle, we return to Dr. Strange and the instant classic mini-series by writer Brian K. Vaughan and artist Marcos Martin that brought the good doctor back to prominence in 2007. When Strange's longtime companion Wong faces a challenge even magic might not be able to fix, the Sorcerer Supreme must revisit his past and rediscover his humanity in order to save his friend.
